| Rotopod landing gear...I went ahead and splurged and got the Rotopod 60 landing gear for my new Raptor 50. It is absolutely awesome and I am very happy I got it!! The difference between the 30 size and the 60 size Rotopod is only what the rods are made of. The 30 size has wooden rods while the 60 size uses carbon fiber. If you do decide to go with the Rotopod, go ahead and spend the extra $10 and get the 60 size, even if you have a 30 size heli. I got mine my 60 size Rotopod from Heliproz for $55.
A good thing about the Rotopod is when you might not have enough throttle and hit the ground a little hard, it just springs the heli back up about a foot of the ground, with no damage to the heli. I have been very happy with it as I have been learning. I think it was money very well spent.
On the other hand, for the money, you can't beat the the homemade versions. They work fine and if you break a wooden rod, you can replace it cheaply at your Home Depot. Either way will have you up and flying and learning which is the most important thing. Just get something, it will save your heli and your wallet in just the first flight.
Good luck and happy flying,
