e-Electric Batteries & Chargers > Triton + LiPo ?

Hello,
I recently received my Thunder Power 3S4P-7800 mAh LiPo pack and have charged and discharged it on my Triton twice. I have a question about the results and wether or not they are normal as this is my first LiPo pack.

Series of events:
1) Charged at 1.0 A,
2) Discharged at 2.5 A setting (not really 2.5 A at these voltages as any Triton owner knows) with a reading of 7435 mAh,
3) Charged at 2.5 A with a reading of 7346 mAh,
4) Discharged with a reading of 7363 mAh, and
5) Charged at 2.5 A with a reading of 7386 mAh.

Discharge cutoff voltage was set to 9.0 V. My concern is that I'm not getting any where near 7800 mAh. Is all this normal for this charger/battery combo?

Thank you,
John K.

The results you see are exactly right...

The Triton chargers are always a little on the safe side. In charging, they only charge about 92-96% full to prevent overcharging - that would be 7200-7600 mah give or take depending on how your charger was calibrated.

The same goes for discharge...it will not deplete a LiPo pack "all the way" because it doesnt want to overdischarge the pack. It will again only discharge 92-96% give or take.

Youre seeing exactly what you should. In flight, chances are that youll never use the entire 7800 mah...discharging a LiPo pack too far can damage it so I stop flying when my 3s4p packs reach around 11v right after landing. At that point I usually put in around 7000-7500 mah.

Then the Triton Sucks

Well, I guess I will be getting a different charger if the Triton is going to pull crap like that. I didn't buy a $130 charger and a $200 7800 mAh battery pack only to have the charger let me put a 7300 mAh charge into it.
