the motor is super rich on the low end and alright on top end.
i lean up the low end needle and it doesn't seem to change except i give it throttle and the motor quits.
how far out are people running the needles?
what temp range should i be running?

i am going to modify the fan shroud for better cooling, it needs it.

I am also interested on needle settings? Anyone out there with a Q15/Toki 18?
Novaman, what servos are you using for ccpm, thrtl, rudder?

i just threw in some lowend standard hitec servosin it, running a futaba 240 gyro with a standard servo also. i figured i wouldn't need good servos in it, only used for basic flying around.

i put 2 more tanks through it today, its about time to lean it out but my temp is averaging 200 degrees and its blowing as much smoke as my 60's. so i figure the fan shroud will need some modification to cool the engine better.

i think the main tank has a leak, there is alot of fuel in the front of the canopy and under the tank after a flight. i'll have to remove the tank and check it someday.

my high end is out 2 1/4 turns, the low end i am not sure on, i leaned it up a couple clicks, very close to the throttle arm though.
put a piece of clean fuel line on the carb and close the low end, then blow in the fuel line as you open up the low end. when the air flows it should get fuel. start the engine and adjust the needle from their.

i got the high end needle out about 2 turns now, i have about 14 tanks ran through the motor. my max temp is 223 degrees, talking with some car guys they say they are in the 240-250 degree range, so i guess my 223 degrees is alright.

do the car engines withstand higher temperatures?

What glow plug are you using, when get to lean it will eat plugs, 1 per flight.

right now i am using a Fox idle bar-- maybe i am looking for just to much out of this motor.

Tried OS5, OS8,ENYA3,ENYA4 NOW FOX

Running it rich makes you really plan head-lack of power.

whatever plug came with the motor, not sure what it is.

i found a leak in the main tank, i should have pressure checked it before building.

If its a car engine then run it will need to run like one. They run hot so you need a cool plug. The popular plug for cars is the McCoy MC9. They are also popular with the Ducted Fan planks. Its about the only plug that lasts.

Also, car engines are designed to run on low oil content fuels with lots of nitro. No..... they don't last long this way, per se', but that is how you get the power out of 'em.

I got more runs out of my plugs by adding an extra washer on the glow plug.
