Thanks for all the great response. Hope to see you all this weekend at the Phoenix FunFly. I'll be videoing there from the air...

Here is the NEW Version 2 RaptorCam....

The new video is up on my web site at:

Or, click here:

The video is about 10mins in total, and is 17MB large.

Let me know what you think of this latest setup.

What the heck is 'led jep'?

No trees in AZ, didn't you hear? We cut them all down to make room for the sand :-)...

I am using a Sony GV-D900 to record and monitor the video. It records straight to DV, is battery powered, and has a 5in. LCD.

Right now, I fly the camera myself, but I am looking at upgrading to a pan/tilt setup with a second camera-receiver that will require a camera operator.

- Ben

Great setup. Good you possibly post the model numbers of the camera and Tx you are using. I followed the previous link, but it was not clear exactly what you are using.

Thanks....I am impressed,

Let's see.

It's essentially a stock V2. raptor...

The camera is by Remington. It's a security cam, model 821 I think. You can get it from their web site.

The transmitter is a AR-something-or-other from wirelessvideocameras.com. Runs on a 12V. battery, mounted behind the fuel tank.

The receiver came with the AR package, and is connected to a SONY GV-D900 monitor/DV VCR.

I'll be bringing it down to this weekend's fun fly in PHX, if anyone's going to be there from this list (and I know you are... :-)...

Incidentally, the reason I've been playing around with all this is because in April my company is going to be producing a video to help folks get started with shooting aerial photos and videos. Currently, the sponsors are Heliproz, Thundertiger, JVC, Wirelessvideocameras, Airfoil inc, and FMA direct. Should be a good video. I'll keep you all posted.

Nice. But how do you know what you are shooting. I've been thinking of trying to do some photography when I get better and was thinking it would have to have video monitor to see and focus on object

Is there a way I can setup a camera to take a picture instead of video? I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC and could get some great shots. Any info would be welcome. Would like to do it cheap as possible...

dude... grab a cheapo 35 mm point and shot camera... if your seriously on a budget... get a 35 dollar one from walmart.. glue a servo onto the camera and set the atv's on the radio so when you flick a switch.. the servo arm will depress the shutter...and when you (un-flick) the switch it will get off the shutter release button.... mount it to the helicopter . and bingo... cheap airborne camera.... I still think the video stuff is way cool.. good luck
