I was just wondering if you should run a air filter on your carbs? What is the pros and cons if any.

If you fly low and slow over dirt think about it. If you fly a little higher not an issue. Can plug up, fall off or get "eaten".

I run the Century filter. works good so far. I was amazed at what collects on it. Wow if that gets into the carb well you know what it will do.

Where can a guy get an air filter at? I use a O.S 32SX-H engine. Thanks , Jerry

air filters

i do not use a filter. some flyin buddies do. the ones that do have had more tuning problems on OS 32's than the engines with out. BUT I AGREE WITH THE OTHER GUYS, IF YOU KEEP IT CLEAN AND SECURE YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. a thunder tiger rep in alabama flies the TT PRO engines on a grass field and DOES NOT use a filter. you can try one and experiment.

Scott , What kind of tuning problems are you talking about? Do they make a engine run lean because of less air flow or something else?
I fly off of a High School parking lot because theres very few areas to fly from around where I live and there always full of sand and gravel so I thought a air filter might help. My O.S. 32 runs like a charm and I don't want to change that either. Thanks , Jerry

I'm not sure about tuning problems, but I would think that it would restrict airflow making the engine go richer. While I do agree that air filters are good for dirt and stuff, my eperience is that I've never been able to damage or notice a difference in motor performance. By the time tiny grains of dirt or clutch dust makes a difference, its time to have the motor overhauled anyways. I've always found its better to keep clean fresh fuel going to your motor instead.
