I was curious about how many people are running small electric fans directed at the motor? I first saw one on Ralf’s Logo from Midako a year ago at IRCHA. I just picked up some small CPU computer fans and plan to wire them into my Ultimate BNC 5V receiver power source. Has anyone had any electrical interference issues with one or more fans? They are is rated at .15amps. I was planning to run 1-3 surrounding the motor on a Logo 10. If one is good than 2 is better or even 3 is cooler.

3 fans on the motor?!
Are you having problems with the motor casing or the side frames melting when flying?

Seriously, there is no need to mount any fans unless you are having problems with the motor overheating. And if it is overheating, I think one CPU type fan would do the job. Why add more weight and power drain than necessary (although they don't weigh much or use a lot of power).

I use one fan in front of my esc, I just have it wired straight to the battery with the esc wires and I haven't had any probs whatsoever, I'm also running 12 cells, the fan is a 12 volt fan and it's running just fine with probably 20 or so flights thus far with it...

What helps more than the fan though was to cut holes on the canopy, at first I didn't want to because I thought it would look ugly but I ended up cutting holes on the sides of the window, turned out nice and my motor temp dropped at least 10 degrees F.

I bought a new Hacker B50-13L and changed out the B50-11L just to cool down the motor from using Lipo's. I already cut quarter size holes in the canopy to help reduce heat. I like to fly continuous with back to back batteries and do not take time for breaks except to change out the batteries. So I figured I better think about a little extra safety margin and use a fan or fans to keep things cool is all.

I am planning on putting a computer fan in front of my motor. I actually got the idea after seeing the Mikado fan (yes they sell one). I didn't ask the price at the time, but I figure a computer fan is probably cheaper and just as effective. I fly in Phoenix, so the more airflow the better.

I mounted a small 12v fan between the esc and the Hacker motor and notice a considerable temp difference. I wired mine to the battery plug not the UBEC. If it is a 12v fan you wont get much on 5v and it could cause interference. And definately cut some holes in the canopy!

I put a fan in mine after flying many flights back to back in 30C weather for a couple of days, and ruining one of my Motors. After that, the ESC started to run hotter even on cooler days, and the motor temps started to climb, even on the mild flights. Apparently the magnets lose some of their power under these conditions. Fortunately, the manufacturer overhauled the motor for me for the price of sending it back to Germany. I use a 12v mini fan, drawing 80ma at 12.8v, and have put a 33 ohm resistance in series as I fly 13 cells, to drop 3.5v or so. It works great, and no interference, even at extreme ranges. I am running pcm on the Rx tho.
