Now is this lot a new model to build, or did I go and 'do it again'?

Thought I'd re-build it from scratch this time - got most of the bits to replace the broken parts so now all I need is time

What caused this one you ask A nice auto ended with the heli sitting over some freshly cut grass a short distance away from me so I spooled her up to bring her back again. I couldn't see it at the time, but it picked up some of that grass and less than 10 seconds into the flight the tail stopped which stopped the head also and it plummited down with only the innevitable conclusion!

Upon further investigation I found the bearings had been forced out of the pitch slider mechanism and grass was melted around the whole assembly.

I guess I won't be doing that again - for a while at least

Stay Safe
Cheers
Richard.

Why do you all think that is expensive ?
It looks to me like a fairly typcial ding, and DD has taken the opportunity to pull the heli apart and do a complete rebuild (as he says)

The 3DNT is not expensive to run - especially when compared with its peers - Robbe Millie, Fury Extreme - which incidentally is like comparing an Aston Martin with a Corvette

I've seen a 3DNT crash with over 900 euro spare cost only (not mine )!!!

It can come pretty bad, and i've experienced it already .

A minimum cost will start from about 250 euro / crash.

You crash too hard
The most I have ever done is about £165, and that included a new canopy and new blades. My 'usual' crash items are a flybar, skids, maybe a mainshaft and feather spindle, and the servo gears.

I started with a £150 spares purchase and need a couple more items to bring it to probably £220 total cost.

All three 9206 servo sets went, I lost most of the head linkages, flybar, feathering spindle, blades, canopy, fan shroud, main shaft & bearings, tail fin, undercarriage legs and a few other small bits.

I can usually count on around £150 for a smash (on previous experience) as the canopy doesn't take much to go but that just give me a chance to 'experiment' with different paint styles .

I find that the 3D parts are generally cheaper than most other bits (at this level). Not sure if it's due to the fact that there is only one 'link' in the chain when importing into this country.

Just got to wait for the weekend now so I can get it back in the air.

Cheers
Richard.

One of my friend crashed his 3DNT, main blades, spindle, delrin parts in the head, flybar gears on 3 s9206. Canopy was repairable.
Total cost : 180 Euros.

You can get the two plastic gears for each s9206 that get destroyed within the 9206 for 5USD at Cyberheli.
This decreased the price of the crash as the complete sets are expensive.
A blade hit the tail boom and was destroyed but the boom survived the impact. That was impressive.

I found this helicopter cheaper to repair in France than other ones like Fury and Millenium, but only if you can get the plastic gear s for 9206 separately and a lot cheaper than Caliber60.

Back in the air again this weekend...

Saturday was a bit frightening though - spooled up and the thing was shaking all over got into the air but was completely unflyable .

Upon further investigation the main shaft appeared to be bent so I took it all home and striped it out to find the old knackered one I put back in by mistate . I took a look in the bin and found the new one laying there as straight as a dye .

Fitted and flew on Sunday and everything was perfect again . Got a red canopy this time - I've had a few yellow and black ones and seeing another colour on offer I couldn't resist . Haven't had the chance to paint it so I just stuck a few stickers all over it, orientation was no worse than before .

The NT at that stage in your picture always reminds me of one of those baddie machine things in Star Wars

Glad you got the fella back together OK. I guess your mistake was probably due to that tipple I see behind the airframe on your workbench
