A friend purchased some rotorsport night blades and they recommended not doing any terminal velocity tail slides. Is that different than fast tail slide??? Thanks

The phrase Terminal Velocity means maximum speed it can reach with out an assist from the engine. So if your heli falls tail down 300 feet somewhere along that slide the heli will reach it's max speed or terminal velocity.

Until the blades let go - and then the heli falls even faster

that wouldn't more stress on the main rotors than a fff dive or other aggresive 3d moves i wouldn't think....i wonder why they warn about that move.

Nite blades

It's suposedly when you do a terminal tail slide and pull out inverted or right side up too quickly and slamin full pitch thus loading the blades to the point of breaking. Ugly site I hear. Hi jeff.

P.S. I have 710 Modelsport nite blades on my Freya OS 91 nite machine with the Modified Muscle pipe and it rocks, just gotta refrain from slamin the sticks

I have seen the results from a TV tail slide with MS blades first hand. I was at a field with Mark Keiner watching him do some real killer stuff. And between flights we started talking about blades and their performance. And that is when the topic came up about MS blades. He abruptly told me not to try a TV tail slide with a set no matter what. I asked him why, and he pulled a Futura Nova out of the back of his RV that was wadded up in a ball. I mean it was DESTROYED! He explained to me that he was doing a demo with the ship and was atempting a TV tail slide when BAM the thing went into the ground tail first, full speed. He said that after the incident he was wondering what happened. After some disscution with a few guys at the field he was at he found a guy there that had the accident on tape. When viewed in slow motion you could see one blade come severly out of track when he pulled back on the cyclic to pull out of the tail slide. The blade broke off at the root, and all the rest is history. Now these were not night blades, but I wouldn't try it with either one. Shortly after this incident MS started putting warnings in their blade packaging stateing that they were not recomended for this type of manuver. I know that every pair I have bought have had this warning. So if you are wanting to do this stuff I would look into night V blades. But that may be just me.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.
