I was wondering how long should a swash plate last? How do you tell if its started to wear out?

I'd say unless the bearing grips, you'll notice more and more play in it. Some are know to have lot of play after certain time.

I have never heard about lifetime figure, like how many hours, or gallons. I guess it also depends how you hard you fly, how much stress you put onto it.

Very rare for an X-cell swashplate to wear that quick. I've got one that is twelve years old, it's been on three different heli. I couldn't even guess how many gallons it had on it, probably over two hundred at a guess.

check is to see how much verticle play is between the upper and lower bearing and uniball unit too, if it's more than negliable then it's time to replace it ..

The swashplate of my Shuttle had a lot of play between the two rings. When I replaced it for a metal one it flies much smoother.

I had only 15 liters fuel through it.
