| Hey Victor. Welcome to addictive hobby of r/c helis. Hope you are ready for lots of fun. This is a fantastic hobby which at one moments will keep your adrenaline pumping and your heart racing. Be sure to always ask questions if you are unsure of something. There are no stupid questions and no one will make fun of you if you ask what may seem to some a simple question. I learn something new everytime I go out whether it be good or bad. In my option if you stop learning then what is the point of doing it. It's all part of the process.
Don't get discouraged, take your time and remember safety is always the most important thing in this hobby. Things happen fast and these are not toys. Try not to get too caught up in the craze of having to have all those shiny, expensive metal parts that will drain your bank account. I speak from experience on this one.
Also 90% of the time they don't make the heli fly any better especially were you would notice at the learning stage.
The first thing I bought before getting into this hobby was a simulator (RealFlight I prefer). This allowed me to play around and see if I actually liked this hobby before I started to spend money on all the real stuff. It was the best investment I have ever made and I definately recommend it. I try to practise on the sim as often as I can to work on my stick movements and tricks. I just wish I could do the stuff for real what I can do on the sim. Must be that I am still nervous. If you practise on the sim on a regular basis it will definately help you learn because you will be less worried about crashing.
There are plenty of people from T.O. here on RunRyder that would be more then willing to help you out and give you some pointers not to mention check over your heli to make sure it is setup properly for you. I am sure some of these people will post comments also.
As for clubs there is the Toronto R/C Heli club which is located at the SE corner of Elgin Mills and McCowan in Markham. This is a heli only club. There a bunch of great guys there like, Arden, Chris, Robert, Darren, David, Kay, Kevin and a bunch of others whos names I can't remember who can be found flying there at different times of the week or weekend who would be more then happy to help you out. Darren actually runs training courses were he teaches how to fly r/c helis. Not sure of his hourly rate but it's an option also. He is a hell of a nice guy and one damn good pilot or should I say crazy. HEHE
One warning. Don't watch these guys fly too much because your jaw will be sore from hitting the ground so much.
You can contact Arden at his Hobby Shop "A&J Hobbies" and he can help you out to maybe hook up with these guys. Here is his website addy. http://www.ajhobby.com/defaultpage.asp
There is also a list of other clubs on his site.
Hope this helps and good luck.
