LITE MACHINES

Have you tried Lite Machines? I got mine direct from them. They could not be more helpful or nice. BTW: the 120 is more fun than a 12 pack.

Yes I tried - they do not have any full packages in stock and the gyro is backordered. I'm looking for some place to actually buy the whole package from to start flying.

You probably wont save any money but you'll be better off equipment wise to piece-meal the package from different vendors. Usually the packages have compromised parts like those crappy pg-03 piezo gyros.

Servocity.com has excellent Hitec radio gear prices and you can get a CSM 180 or 200 gyro from Ricks or Heliproz. You might also want to fork out for the Futaba GY-240 or find a good used one.

Go to Mike Roffe at:

www.roffeetvhobby.com

He'll set you up with everything you need and any upgrades you want including brushless motors and Voyager landing gear and then he'll give you a deal on the whole package.

Yea I totally agree. The rtf package is gonna run you around $500+ from Lite Machines. You can get a lot better equipment getting things seperately. This would be the ideal set up...

-Basic Corona kit $180
-Kyosho Atomic Force motor $20 (rtf kit comes with the Fusion motor that will probably last you only 10-15 flights, the Atomic Force will last at least 10 times longer)
-CC Pegasus 35 esc $45(Same as with the kit)
---You can get most of the above from Roffeetvhobby---
-Futaba Gy 240 gyro $100 (rtf kit comes with cheapy gws non hh gyro)
www.helihut.com
-Laser 4 Radio w/ 3 hs-81 metal gear servos and rx (rtf kit comes with this radio which is good but comes with plastic gear servos, cyclic servos will strip in hard crashes) $157.95 shipped at www.servocity.com

That totals's $503... as you can see it won't make sense to go with the Lite Machines rtf kit... a lot of those listed above you will get eventually anyway and i speak from experience as I purchased the rtf kit and regretted it totally, I ended up getting a gy 240 gyro and metal gears for the servos within a week. Plus my fusion motor crapped out after about 10 flights, I went brushless after that anyway so no biggie

Bglynn, I'd wait for MIke Roffee to get back to you or call him. I'd doubt that you're gonna find a better deal. Mike sold me my Corona for $175 and I didn't even bother to shop around when I needed spare parts and he had them all in stock.

Man, just a warning for those of us in the 21st century - Roffee may have good prices, but is OLD SCHOOL when it comes to service and speed....three emails to both addresses over two weeks are STILL unanswered.

I called them this morning to place my order, and here 5 hours later, 2pm, the guy STILL isn't in the shop, and they don't know what they have in stock.

Here's a hint to shop owners...if you don't have the ability to service your website, don't bother putting up the page, it just pisses people off. And it really helps to have someone in the store during business hours that can fill orders. I appreciate the efforts of the girl who took my order, but bottom line is - I want my order filled when I place it. If this rolls to the morning with still no word, my dollars go elsewhere. A lower price means nothing without a product in my hands.

Friggin rediculous...ok I got a return phone call this afternoon around 4:30 - Mike said he thinks he has everything I wanted, and asked if I sent him an email - I said yes, and he found my emails. He said he would respond in a few minutes with a quote...big surprise, nothing all night. I'm calling back in the morning, and if he isn't 'in yet' I'm cancelling for a better shop.

So far I do not recommend this shop, no matter what prices they may have. For the extra $20 or whatever it looks like other shops are the best choice.

I totally understand how you feel, that must be very frustrating, I just went through that same type of ordeal with DeeTeeenterprises, I finally gave up and ordered elsewhere after a week and a half and all I was trying to order was carbon blades that they had in stock!! How's that s***.

Finally got it on the way - the price was a little more than the total above had I pieced it together, but overall I saved on shipping, so that's fine.

I called and Mike still wasn't in, but he had left all the parts to be shipped. I confirmed the price and it's on the way.

Hi Fellow frustrated flyers,

It truly sucks that we spend our hard earned money, and get crappy service and responses for these vendors. I myself have had a bad experience with heli-hobby, and to top it off they have no phone service anymore, e-mails only!! How the hell can you run a business like this??? Mike Roffee responds if and when he feels like it, and I guess DeeTee is the same way. If these guys aren't going to run a full time business to their internet customers, lets all find someone else that will!!! We spend hundreds to thousands on this hobby, why are we letting ourselves be treated like this?????

To shed some light on that question

Yes it's true. It is a problem that we really wish we could figure out. It seems simple to just pick up the phone and answer a "quick question" but it's not that simple. I wish I could handle every single problem that people are facing and we try to. Unfortunately we have had to result to e-mail, which I think is sucks.
Let me fill you in on some details, so if you’re still mad after I explain it then it's for the right reasons. We have our crew which in separate parts one does web site details such as new products and pictures another two people for e-mails questions and problems, another does purchasing and accounting with data base up dating so we don't have listed product available when there not and VS. , Then two to do packing pulling for shipping orders and last one that does all the shipping and RMA work to get your bits and pieces to you. Now while the phone was trying to be tackled 3 of those people with mission essential jobs where busy taking all the quick questions. The 3 people where busy through out the whole day with the phone never stopping and the voice mail box full and the rest of the calls after the voice mail being full would not be taken at all. So because of the high cost from the distributors and the competitive nature of the hobby business this store is full on it's load of employees. There can be vital questions not being answered at all. Plus so many other things are getting left undone.
I know that many are frustrated but I want you to know that this is not unheard. It's been the collective idea that although impersonal E-mail is the most effective. That way many questions that are quick stay that way. When something does need a phone call we actually can make time to call the person.
If someone has a real solution that makes since I would guarantee you that it will be brought forward at one of our daily meetings to be addressed. In all genuine honesty please help me help you.

Hi HiroboEric,

While I appreciate your taking the time to respond, and totally understand the dynamics of a business, its absolutely no excuse. Think you would take an excuse like this from a busy doctor who botched a diagnosis on a loved one? Although this is not that drastic, there are similarities when commiting "business malpractice". When you take the responsibility of being in business and serving "paying" customers, taking our money to make a profit, there are NO excuses that are acceptable. Further, if some customers are loyal and still want to do business, there should be a notice on the web site that due to whatever reasons, there may be problems with an order and there is no phone service available and it may take several days to a week or more to resolve any problems. Of course if you were honest and wrote that on your site, it would affect your business, which it will do anyway since word of mouth gets around on these forums and people will shy away from "problem" sites. I'm sure you are a caring person who wants to serve the customers well AND have a good and profitable business. But, being the customer 3000 miles away and stuck with wrong, or damaged merchandise that cost several hundred dollars and not being able to call and talk to someone, its an unacceptable situation and a mighty bad feeling.......

I tend to agree, I'm guessing that you folks just got tired of dealing with people on the phone. I see the scenario you're trying to paint but answering emails take longer than answering phone questions so I don't understand how that would be better, or maybe you're spending too much on long distance return phone calls? That can be understandable too but like HeliNY is implying, just be honest about it

Overall, I'm happy with HeliHobby's service but have had a wrong part shipped to me (which I just ate because the exchange procedure would've taken forever and a day and I guess I decided it wasn't worth it for a $10 part) and have had one of my orders forgot about which recently got taken care of and it took about 4 days just to straighten it out via emails not including transit time, when it could've taken 3 minutes over the phone.

Well I hear your concerns but I don't think you understand what I am getting at. That 3 min phone call that you think could have been just that easy may have never gotten to us at all. By e-mail we know it will. The positive side to the e-mail is we don't lose time by the time change in e-mail. I can answer e-mail at midnight or noon and it always there to be read by the receiver so we don't get caught up in a phone tag game. You know by your post how hard it is to get through well on our side figure 300 calls a day divided by three people can be a big load to tackle. But back to my second point after all the calls there is no time left to get anything else done.
We have started a plan to answer many questions ahead of time though. It's not an overnight fix but we feel it will make a significant step to getting the phone back on in a realistic volume.
I don't know if you will understand but this is my attempt to keep you informed on what's going on. It was my intension to see if anyone wanted to be part of the solution.
