Hi Steve 9534,

I appreciate your point about preserving the industry.

I also hope that the manufacturers can appreciate the point about making safe and reliable products.

If manufacturers have knowledge about a known issue with one of their products , and choose , for reasons best known to them , to not rectify the problem , then my view is , don't cry for mama when the big bad lawyers show up at your door.

Besides , Raptors almost own the world , one less MA is no big deal.

Cheers.

Raptors rule as Hondas do but there will always be people willing to pay more to drive a Porsche.

Crash- Todd and Jason are supposed to be working on a series of instructional tapes for setup and flight training. Look for them next year.

pistole,

I don't know if you've read any of my other posts on this subject, but I've been flying the plastic tail box for 7 yrs and I don't have problems with it. I fly hard 3d and I do change my tail gears every 200 flights. If some guys like yourself cannot build or maintain the tailbox properly then thats your problem. I'm sick and tired of hearing all you babies crying about these supposed tail box problems. You all need to either learn how to build it right or keep your mouth shut, or both. I normally don't get real confrontational in person or on these forums but I have had it!

Bingo, read the instructions, not just look at the pictures, and it will perform as advertised. Don't set the gain on your 601 to 90% or something rediculous like that and you won't prematurely wear out the tail gears. Don't try to do drill bit piroettes with brick wall stops, yeah I know they look cool, and you won't blow out the gears either. Maintain your heli properly and they'll last a long time. I've had three MinAir's, an ST, SE, and Extreme with hundreds of flights on them and haven't had even a hint of tail gear trouble. It's all in the setup. If you can't handle taking the time to build it correctly then get something with a no brainer belt driven tail. Iow, don't blame the product for your inability to build and maintain it properly.

I heard that the UK minature importer is so fed up with complaints about the gearboxes, he now builds them before sending out the kits so he knows they are done right...

They run as smooth as silk when he has built them...

That says quite a bit about quality vs builder....

Don't think you can sue one of the manufacturers out of business and go happily on your way. The others will take note and may decide not to continue also. Even if they do, you can bet the price of helis will go up to pay the liability insurance premiums. If you want to pay $500.00 for a Raptor 30, just keep on talking. Steve.

I've been quietly following this thread

its one thing to say it works, but its obvious many people have a problem with following the MA instructions (cut the red wire, but first cut the blue)

Eric Larson did a pretty good job of explaining the tailbox build process, perhaps one of you could provide a detailed 601/ t/r control setup that has worked successfully for you.

Does not matter , we'll just wait for the 1st tail plastic tailbox failure resulting in injury to user and/or spectator and then MA will be out of business when they are sued for every cent that they are worth.

you guys are too funny... if you think any suit like that will go anywhere you are wrong. the judge will just laugh at you tell you to go to hell... unless there are hundreds or thousands of boxes failing (and killing or injuring people) you will be wasting YOUR time and money good luck
