I just bought a G26 to replace the old engine in my Bergen gasser. Now I'm hearing that was a mistake as it's a shaker and the 231 has as much power and is much smoother. Anyone have some experience to back that up. Looking for some info. Thanks.

check with Malorie, or search for her posts that include G26 for more details.

I run the G26 in both of my Bergens without any vibration problems.

You can keep the standard 14T pinion (6.43 to 1). I would actually like to get ahold of a 15T (6 to 1). That would put the motor right in the middle of Zenoah's quoted peak power at 1750 headspeed. Still trying to twist Larry's arm hard enough.

The 26 has a bit more power than the 231, but IMO not enough to make it worth the upgrade price for those running the 231.

John,
I have been running the 26 since before it hit the market with none of the problems you are speaking of. Of course, I'm running it in a Bergen Intrepid. The G-10 frames may be absorbing all the hellish vibration you are speaking of but I don't think so. My engines are straight out of the box from Zenoah.

I have seen the cranks out by a few thousanths and cause a lot of shaking.

I know if the needles are off quite a bit, they do shake, but not any more than the 231 or any other gas motor.

Sorry, I just don't see the same results you're speaking of. In fact, I've seen other people flying the 26 without any trouble either.

I think Zenoah didn't make the 26 a heli motor from feedback like in the previous posts. They were in a bit of a hurry to get something out to the market.

All of my experience with the G26 is that it is really no harder to tune with no noticable extra shake than any other motor of it's class.

I say check the crank for runout, dial the fan and run it. You'll like it.

You can also read my thoughts on this on the RCUniverse forum.

Mal has stated our position very well, and you may be surprised by what comes from Zenoah in the near future................

Chris are you bringing some of your good machines to Mulberry again this year?

Their probally just going to raise the timing on the new G26 H and put a bulb carb on it...To be honest, I like the G-26 like it is...I like lower rpm operation...Nevertheless, Zenoah must serve the 3D freaks out there
At least they are starting to do it right!

Bill
