| First of all, no matter what heli you get, you definitely don't want to be flying in any wind until you have hovering down at least from side in both ways....
A Logo 10 is a very nice and smooth machine and is really stable and can handle winds really nice once you get used to it, if you had to start with a cp heli, it just may be great to start with but it is expensive to repair and if you went new, would cost you $1200+ dollars for everything not including batteries. I've seen used ones for $650+ dollars but they're few and far in between plus you never know what they been through...
Seriously, to start with though, the Lite Machines Corona is awesome, it's very durable and inexpensive to fix and is nice and stable for a smaller heli, you do have to stay out of the wind when you're first beginning though, but same goes with any heli, winds can really get tricky when you're starting. If it's always windy there, start with a micro and practice in the house until you get hovering down, micros aren' t the best way to start but it beats trying to start with any bigger heli outside in windy conditions.
Or get a Realflight G2 sim and practice with that until you feel he's ready to start on the real thing....
BTW, the only 30 size heli you're gonna be able to get that's any good for $500 bucks would be a nitro machine. You should consider that if you insist on getting a 30 size for under $500 because that's your only chance. I wouldn't even sell my Logo 10 without my motor and esc and gyro for $500.
Shoot, I'd barely even sell my brushless Hummingbird for $450! |
