the windcrafter inc carangifoil is the only lighter than air flying machine that can sail the wind like a sailboat. enjoy the webpage, it is being shown to modelers first. nobody has seen these videos. www.windcrafter.webhop.net

watching paint dry?

ok if you say so but I fly both rotary (I am a compentent 3d pilot) and fixed wing. flying a machine that must be sailed is something completly different and yes... challenging. besides, when was the last time you saw a 10 foot blimp, with one hacker b-20 for power, flying outside in winds up to 5-7 mph?? and the aerobatic capabities are virutally limitless with the addition of the top motor. try to keep an open mind!

Pretty cool. I hope it works out for you. I don't know if I would need one but I always have respect for those that can invent, design and build new things. Don't let the negative comments bother you, some people suffer from extreme tunnel vision (and are just plain rude). I liked the idea of using it for advertising at special events. You may actually have something that may offer an alternative to using small blimps for advertising.

Good luck!

Good concept..

Aaron,
Very neat ship. I would like to add one bit of constructive critisim in regards to a video/camera platform. The ship is too pitchy for video work. The transition from level to a climb needs to be made with less of a pitching movement.
I would also look at making the envelope wider overall. Increasing the size of the evelopes to say a 12' wide area might also decrease the pitchiness I saw. Of course the top motor would help out a bunch with that if it was setup right.
I agree that you should heavily market this to indoor sports venus. GREAT advertising item for sure.

What is the estimated market cost going to be for a 10x10 envelope?

you are right about the top motor

with the addition of the top motor and a proper setup, all of the unwanted tendencies go away. the flights we have posted right now are not a great representation of the ship as a platform. but those videos are in the works. also the posted flights were in a confined area with tubulent wind. the flight performance is incredible inside when you can stop thinking about sailing and just play. it can taxi and it can carve through turns the way a fish swims! the biggest advantage about using it for a camera platform is it can rotate in free air without bobing like a blimp, and no stabilizing equipment is needed for clear, vibration free shots. thanks for the words of encouragement
by the way... the webpage got more hits than we were prepared for...it will be back online as soon as possible. sorry.

I'm getting redirected to a yahoo website. It's too bad too, lighter-than-air flight has always been a streong interest of mine, so much so that I built a blimp and flew it in the late '80s . IT might be fun ( but expensive) to revisit that project with newer lighter materials.

very cool, scale it up, visit the jetstream, now you got something that can sail 100mph. much faster than watching Krylon dry
