| Well THAT was dumb!!!....... Put the R-22 in the other day. I was flying for about 5 min. when I thought I would do a few circles. Did a couple then the third one went W-A-Y wide almost behind me......OK, 10 ft. behind me.... LOL.
I spun around just it time to be blinded by full sun....no sunglasses... . Didn't even see it go in !! Luckily it went into some tall grass and so far only looks like the landing gear set......the small plastic blocks that hold the skids to the wire struts. Also the feathering shaft. Maybe the main shaft....usually that gets bent at least a bit (haven't checked it yet). The landing gear on the R-22 sort of acts like a "spring". I found the skids sitting like a pair of shoes about 7-8 ft. from the heli.....hehehe......looked funny; the pair of them just sitting there like I placed them that way..... Anyway the gear is mounted in small blocks and just kinda' folds up if you come in at a shallow angle......lucky for me!! I guess Rick's will be getting a call when they get back from IRCHA..... BTW, while I'm in the mood...I want to whine about the JR price points.......THEY SUCK!!! $48 for the small plastic blocks......yet $57 for the ENTIRE gear set...incuding ALL the set screws, skids, plastic blocks and wire struts....everything!! Who dreams up this crappy price structure??? |
