Well it was not a good weekend for me, I was flying in our usuall area in San Diego on the front pad and was on my second flight of the day with the SS when in a right hand turn the tail rotor failed, started do a piroet side ways , down she came. The bitch is I was out over a canyon , 6 people saw it go down but after 2 hrs of searching no one could find it.

I would like to thank all of the members that went into that hell hole to search for my chopper, everyone at the field stopped flying and helped to look for it. Everyone !! . What a class group we have in San Diego.

Robe Futura SS Crash

We found it !! Went back this past weekend and spent 1.5 hr's looking over the hillside with my binoculars, no luck. Went flying on Sunday and around 1:30 PM, 5 of us dressed in jeans , long shirts and boots went in to the brush to find it. After 15 mins Richard spotted it, trashed the blades , boom , skids , canopy, radio tray, a few linkages , the main shaft and the tail rotor shaft.

Has anyone noticed the tail rotor failing by the bell crank on the tail box slipping off of the pitch slider ? This seems to be the point of failure and works with what happend when it crashed and the attitude I was flying in at the time.
