Those are ThunderPower Li-Po batteries hangin' on the sides, and big'ol ESC heat sink hangin' on the bottom, it definitely looks like a electric conversion Fury. Will be interesting to hear the details of this from anybody who might be there.

They have been working on an electric Fury for a while now. I think I saw pictures from the last hobby show. It was the same show that they unveiled the Tempest at if I am thinking correctly. Anyone have a copy of those PICS?

Brian,

Is this going to be a product from MA or is it a conversion from someone else?? Tried to find something on their web page but no mention of it.

Chris Stephensen has been flying the prototype for some time now. There will be an electric version of the Fury, however the current production focus is the gas version of the Fury. Maybe later this year or early next year the electric will be ready to produce.

Yep...

Jason was at the fun fly last weekend and he was talking about it.
Let's just say he will be sticking to his Extreme for a bit.

Is that a LON as in a LON DART, or an ION like as in a lithium-ion battery? I am funnin a little. But I realy do want to know.

There was a thread on Ezone on this heli. Gary Wright is looking to put a Hacker C50 into one on LiPO's. He expects about 2.5Kw out of the Hacker or 3.35 HP. At about 10 lbs.all up, he expects to blow away the YS91 Furys.

That would be very interesting......

Brian,
I believe it's Ion as in lithium-ion.

Chris Stephensen, MA rep from Minnesota has indeed been
working on this concept for a few years. He had his newest
prototype at our fun fly this year. The machine fly likes a 90,
no ifs, ands or buts about it! He tells me that hopefully by
the end of next year it will go into production.

He can get a full 30 minutes of flight time on one charge
doing full 3D. However, he lands after 12-15 minutes
to let the batteries cool down before he continuities.

It looks like the electric's just may catch up to the glow
fuel machines very soon and may even take over at
some point in time. This machine out climbs my YS80
hands down!

If you want to see it, you should head to the Owatonna, MN
fun fly this coming weekend.
