Hi all!

I've been wondering since im sort of new to RC gear what is the difference between transmitter and reciever sets and just buying them separately?

Is there more to matching transmitters and recievers than just picking the same frequency for each? or is there more to it like lots of setting up?

Anyway thanks for your replies in advance!

As a rule transmitters and recevers need to be from the same mfg. (positive or neg pulse) Servos are a bit more interchangable. The quality of the radio gear is directly related to the cost. there is no free ride

35 is not allowed for ground - some fishermen in the UK were using boats on 35Mhz to drop bait in a lake and they were clashing with a local flying field. They were buying the boats from a fishing tackle shop that imported them. I think I read about this in MHW or maybe RCM&E.

For transmitter mode explanation click on mode explanation

I think 27 Mhz is being phased out for ground in favour of 40 Mhz.

last question...

do you need crystals in order for the transmitter and receiver to communicate? or are they not necessary?

thanks

Yes, you do not crystals (on the same channel) for the Tx and Rx (Transmitter and Receiver) - but if you buy them new they come with crystals.

Good luck

PS: You should rather post questions like this in the Radios/Governors sections, you'll get quicker & better responses. Not flaming you, just saying
