I got it yesterday, and it totally rocks the house..

Awesome simulator.

I took off from my home airport, Tweed New Haven, and it's pretty much exact. Right down to the coastline, the bay, and the smokestack abeam the numbers on runway 20. It's insane how close to the real thing it is. Also, the ATIS and the ATC frequencies are the same.. Really really cool. Last night I flew a lear jet from my home airport to East Hampton on Long Island.

It rocked the house.

Here's me flying a cub in a thunderstorm over HVN.

Also, ATC is very cool too. You can turn it off and on, but all the calls are accurate. Very good sim. But you need a pretty beefy machine to run it. It runs great with full graphics on my machine, but I have a frickin supercomputer.

Oh, and PS - they have two helis. A Bell jetranger I think, and a Robinson something.

So what's the difference between 2002 and 2004? I've got 2002 - is 2004 worth the upgrade?

there's lots of differences.. Search google for comparisons.

Noteably - the weather dynamics/graphics are totally redone, ATC is redone, different planes, better plane physics, etc.

Great Sim worth the upgrade

I thought it was worth the upgrade. I was a little hesitant at first because I have an older Athlon 1.2ghz with a Radeon 9600 Pro. After a little tweaking I get respectable frame rates 15-21 lock at 21. Overall,it feels like a more complete package, and the weather system and new aircrafts are awesome (love the piper cub).

Less stuttering then 2002 on a modest machine, bottom line... you don't need a supercomputer.

Well worth 54$ for an aviation enthusiast!

ciao,

I am still flying 02 pro... and the funny thing.. I use my realflight controller box to fly it... screw the physics and the joystick.. The sim is still only really good for instrument training or entertainment... What I wanna know, will ATC send me to an NDB for 2 turns in holding and then clear me for the approach????? IF not... I think I'll save my coins for this awesome new CRJ simulator they installed at my school..
graphics still look awesome on the 04 edition.. thank GOD it's half the price I paid for 02....
I'm off to KaZaa... I should be able to download it by next week.. hehehhe

I was going to DL it too, but it's four CD's and an install of 2.8gb.

I figured paying $45 was easier.
