the manual says nothing that my z230 is collective pitch. is it?
reason is the begginner section of all the sights i've visited are saying start with a collective pitch.

Yep... it's a collective pitch heli. If it's got a swashplate... then you can control the pitch of the blades... thus it is a collective pitch heli.
