Sounds great. Let see what I needed to convert to Acrobatic, my gear is standard gear with short boom not sure what gear is on acrobatic , might have to change that. I'm sure that 26CC would chew every bit out off the 91 nitro helis hey..

I would love to do some more articles, BUT I am limited to what I can write because I am sponsored and it is against MHW policy for people like me to write

There's always that caveat to live with when you are being sponsorsed.

Hi all

I spoke to both John at Vario UK last night and Adam NORTH.

John offered me a deal on the used 8301 stretch with hardly any air time, in fact he said if you set eyes on it you would think it was brand new, unfortunately it has the wooden servo tray and I may just have to wear that one. Its also the drab looking stock benzin, maybe he could do a deal on a Viper canopy \decals ????? I'll mention that Friday when I speak to him next.

Can these larger stretch Benzins in stock form do basic aerobatics, loops rolls etc???

I then spoke to Adam who came back to me with the story from Vario on shipping. Basically the idea was to get me a kit drop shipped from germany minus the parts that were being supplied by Vario USA for the upgrade. Vario germany stated they could only ship to the UK vario dealer and I dont believe gave an answer on splitting the kit probably meaning I would have to buy the whole kit.

On top of this Vario USA couldn't ship me a kit direct as they weren't allowed, however could ship me the 'custom vario USA' helicopter, not in kit form with seperate upgrades as that would still be a vario germany product, it had to be built up, it then becomes a Vario USA custom helicopter. Of course this probably also means more shipping and on top another $200 for building it up.

I'm still considering what to do, John was great with the advice he gave and also warranty details.

This red tape nonsense is beyond me sometimes. At the end of the day I dont see where I buy it from is such a big deal, it is supplied from Vario Germany direct to the distributoir be they wherever. So if I want to buy one from the states, whats the big deal, its not as if Vario Germany are missing out. Surely where it is shouldn't make any difference. If I could, I'd go to the states and bring it home myself.

You know whats it like, I really like the upgrades that Vario USA have done, plus the viper canopy and decals really bring a drab looking Trainer to life. If I'm spending a lot of cash I want to buy the heli I decide on, not what I'm forced to buy due to importation rights and red tape.

I want to say a lot more about pricing and the probable reasons behind the shipping rights but it will probably get deleted so i won't.

Can you see I'm frustrated ?????

Here is what the benzin can perform

Quoted from Vario Canada

This is a test I performed on the Benzin CS running 421 blades at 1200rpm.
"To evaluate the performance of this package, lead bars were strapped onto the Benzin Trainer to bring the dry weight to 23.5 lbs. Out at the field the engine was fired up without any change to the pitch or throttle curves just to see what the added weight would do. The helicopter was first brought up into a hover. A few pop ups to get a feel of the weight. Yes it did seam heavier than its normal 14.5 lbs configuration. Response was good so nothing was changed.

The Benzin Trainer was then pushed into fwd flight. The feeling was very good so after a few circuits I lined up to do a loop. The first loop was done from a fwd speed of approx 40mph. The loop was large with a slight tendency to fall out at the top. On the following pass the loop was engaged with 3/4 stick and then was reduced down to about -2 over the top. The loop was effortless. The only noticeable difference was the sound. Those 421 blades really sound great while going around the loop. Roll were performed as usual with no apparent difference. This is totally awesome !

Now you can own a large scale Airwolf which will perform the way it should.

This Vario Gas machine is in a class of its own."
