Hi,

Does anyone have this .avi converted so it can be viewed on MediaPlayer 9 series?

I've searched for a codec online, but the ones that I have found also include advertising 'spyware' in it. I don't want to install such spyware on my machine.

I'd love to see this 3dngasser.avi, but all I can do is listen to the engine go.

Or if you know of a non-spyware codec, please point me to it!

I'll see how it looks in mpg format and see if I can find a place to upload it.
I'll let you know,

It inflated and lost the sound. I'll have to work on this later.

Malorie,

Thanks! I'd love to see this, but I can't find the divx codec without the spyware!

If you get the windows mediaencoder, Augusto has a link on his web site, you can convert it with that.

I'll see what I can do when I get back from IRCHA.

I'm a bit pressed for time at the moment.

Malorie,

So how was IRCHA???

I wish I could have been there.

Get that video converted when you can so we can show senior fuzz that a gasser has no problems with 3D!

You can view this as long as you have a DIVX codec.

Am I the only one that doesn't?

I know you said it's full of spyware but you can get the codec at www.divx.com

why not use an open encoder?

I just don't understand why anyone would use a the divx encoder when there are others out there that don't require any bs. I'm not a video expert but I know computing and the Internet and this is not the way to go. I don't care how good the video is, I'm not going to pay $20 to view it. That's what the codec costs for the non-spyware version. Don't even get me started on the morality of spyware. I would pay Malorie a small sum for the privilege but no one else.

I chose DivX because the file is smaller than others and the quality is better than most. Most of the other codecs I've tried I either end up with a huge file size or with P poor quality video.

If you know of another codec that will give a small high quality file, I am certainly willing to try it out.

BTW, That video was shot last year while I was still running the G23. The performance has increased significantly with the G231s and the G26s.

Just a guess but watch for the IRCHA 2003 video from SKS. I think they taped a flight.

I don't have any from be-bopping around the home field.

Malorie,

Have you tried the new Windows Media 9 encoder? I' ve heard some good things about it, but I don't know how it compares to DIVX as I don't have any divx materiel to compare.

I believe this is the NON-Spyware codec on divx.com. I havn't confirmed it yet, but I've been told if you load the codec only from this link (not the player) then windows media player can play this video.

http://download.divx.com/divx/DivX51Bundle.exe

This came from the http://www.divx.com/divx/ page. Note that this is the 'download the free codec' link. Not the "Ad supported" Divx Pro.

Can anyone confirm that this codec is spyware free? I'll try to do some more testing.

I finally got to see Malorie's video. Looks good!
