I have just bought CC phoenix 10 esc & Hacker B20 31S. Am bench testing with servo tester (to vary throttle setting to esc). with esc programmed to heli mode, the motor is off at idle position and fully on at any other throttle position - have also tried it with radio, using straight line throttle curve - same result. as a load i'm using fixed pitch propellor (5x3 up to 6x4 inch). esc works fine in fixed or auto throttle mode (ie. proportional speed control), but in heli mode its either off or fully on - is this the way its meant to be?
i was under the impression that the stick position would set the rpm to a percentage of full rpm (ie. for straight throttle curve: 50% stick = 50% of full motor speed)
any help much appreciated
David

I assume when you say heli mode you mean gov mode? There are two dofferent gov modes on the P10. Low rpm and high rpm. Try them both. One of them should give you some control over the rpm of the motor.

But in gov mode you may hit full rpm at much less than 100% on your transmitter. In gov mode % on transmitter relates to a certain rpm at the motor.

Check this forum and RCgroups on gov mode for more detail on this.

My Ph45 in my Logo 10 which is the same as the PH10 only bigger, hits max rpm at 34% on the transmitter.

Hope I haven't confused you too much.
