| The first time I dreamed about the possibility of taken aerial pics from a RC heli I
imagined the way to do it my self as camera man and pilot. This way I bought a
DC-AC converter and placing a TV on my car I did my first shoots doing short
views over the TV to know if the tarjet was focused or not. Too many stuffs to be
carried and the inconvenient of searching the heli after each view to the TV makes
me think about other possibilities. A little displays over the transmitter were tested
but the light reflects makes it difficult to see outdoors and have also the same heli
searching problem (at least itīs more transportable).
The 3th option was the eye-treck glasses. Well, a fine and clear image with no
reflects but impossible to look at and pilot the heli at the same time.
Have tested today the Pal-rotorīs CV-1 (thanks Julian) and itīs as awesome as he
told us weeks ago. During flight time I never felt the video image. Our
stereoscopic view allows us to see behind the portion of view one eye has
obstructed (test it putting one finger close in front one eye, you feel the finger is
there but you see perfectly whatīs behind it)
I make some flights and no one was affected by the video image. The image has a
little size and itīs difficult to see some details (may be Iīve not properly
adjusted in color, contrast...) but enough to find in it those big things weīre
normally trying to focus, buildings , roads, cars...
The most difficult for me was the Horses one. I cant find them into the displayed
image due to low contrast but I was able to focus exactly the area where they are
(about 1000 ft away from my possition).
Eye- top could be also a nice possibility but the main advantage here is you donīt need to change your view angle
.
Only short views are neccesary over the display and you can do as many as you
need because we can change our eyes focus very fast and the heli was always at
the same place/position as a fraction of second after.
Thatīs my experience and Iīm very happy with it. Definitely thatīs what I dreamed
time ago.
