e-Century Hummingbird - Swift > HB freaks out with training gear

Hey, I want to run the training gear when I am learning, had my first couple of flights today, dam this thing is hard to keep in a hover. But when I put on the training gear the thing totally freaked out and vibrated really bad and tossed the training gear a 1/4 the way across the yard, but it is fine without the training gear?????

P.S. any tips for a newbie

What do you have for training gear, the X type? If so, make them a little shorter and see what happens. Make sure you have the same length on all four legs and the heli is centered.

I have the same problem. I got those Dragonfly training gear a week ago and it makes the heli vibrates like carzy to a point that it prevents it from gaining height. So far it's a waste of time and money. Without training gear it flies without problem and no vibration.

ping pong

Its the balls if you remove the pingpong balls and just us the sticks you would have better luck,

my advice is that you should learn to fly without them at all but thats just me if you can balance your HB right and trim it on a smooth surface to check for movement you should be able to fly without the gear..

practice good setup and it will make you HB fly better..

1. fully charge battery
2. make sure your blades are straight
3. make sure your servos are trimed for best flight
4. make sure you have enough room to fly.
5. check all your contolls on the ground, right, left, forwards, backwards.
6. if your going to us training gear ziptie them to your struts cuts down on the vibration a little because there not moving, or remove the balls.

If all this sounds stupid! its just good basics, I have tried to help people learn to fly and they did not even know there servos were backwards, just remember build it right and it will fly, you are allways going to have to trim it a little but for the most part a well setup heli will fly itself, if your is shooting all over the place something is wrong and most new pilots over controll anyways, I have flown in front of people and they say WOW thats cool how long did it take you to learn to fly, I tell them months and they say looks to hard for me I say well its not for everyone but once you get it you got it.

Good tips thanks, my problem is, I get it trimmed ok, the longest flight I had was about 20s, this was on my first day, but if I land bad and the blades hit the grass it goes out of trim, then I have to mess with it a while to get it trimmed again, then my pack is dead :-(

I now fly without training gear and it's difficult at first. For me the training gear it's not an issue anymore. I am getting better at it, it's a slow process but I can feel that I am improving. My hover time is only 5 - 10 seconds, a couple of weeks ago was 2 - 4 seconds.

New Guy Flight

Guys Guys Guys
I bought a bone stock FEDA of from Ebay. When I finnaly got it working I was smashing it into every wall and object in the living room. After the stock electronics bit the dust I upgraded everything. I went with the stock humingboard a GWS 4 chan RX and THE CSM Heading Lock GYRO. The addition of this gyro alone made the machine hover like some pro was flying it. I was amazed at how easy it was to control.
Keyrock will tell you the same. He has the stock Hbird gyro and while a good unit it is night and day with regards to hover stability. After rebuilding my FEDA/Hbird hybrid I left the training gear off and with the new Gyro and I never looked back. Remember that this is my very first rc heli. I have flown airplanes all my life but this is the first Helo. I had to relearn everything. When your smashing into everything and breaking parts and then the same week you buy a CSM and install it all I can say is WOW. I went from wall and shins magnet to livingroom hover king!
