| RG 46 & 50I have a 4th-hand RG that came fitted with a 46. It has the GPH fan & shroud - just trim the frames a bit to fit it in. It uses the stock clutch, the flywheel has been machined down a bit. Engine mount is two machined blocks like the Freya's. Looks like the crankshaft has been cut a bit. Stock boom, gear ratio & 55cm blades, will try the Sceadu 50 570mm ones. It flies great & is fast. However the 46 is very fickle to tune as most people know.
My mate installed a 50 in his RG. I'm not sure what mods he made, but they would be similar to the above. You could use the GPH engine mount but would have to drill holes lower down on the frame. Has 60cm blades & long boom - GPH. Stock gear ratio.
If you're after speed, why bother? Wouldn't a Sceadu 50 be faster as it's lighter? Then there is the RG[M] - all carbon with long boom.
I've heard that there was a craze in Japan to stuff 61's into 46/50 helis, namely the GPH etc. Anyone know more? |
