Ok you pro's what is the best way to get rid of the seam in the middle of some fiberglass canopies? More specifically the Fury canopy. I want it to be smooth so you can't see it after it's painted.

Thanks for you input!

Hello Fury Flyer,

I usually block sand the ridge down with at lease 320 grit, then fill with glazing spot putty. I do several times until level. If needed I use Nitro spot putty for the very very small spots, holes. Now it should be ready to prime.

Thanx!

yeah...I just used some fiberglass resin/hardner/cloth to repair my canopy. Problem that I have is mixing the very small quantity required. I end up wasting alot and would love to know how to prevent the waste.

Joe

Thanks Joe!

I am glad to hear that even if you mix it too weak it will still set up. I had done that and after 2 hrs it still didn't set. I made a mess trying to clean it all off again and start over. At that point..I said I'm gonna really make sure that I go heavy on the hardner. Stuff will burn you now! LOL
I've been able to cut the ratio down somewhat, but still waste more than I want. Seems a long time ago, there use to be instructions to add 15 or 30 drops of the liquid hardner to a certain amt. of resin. Wish they still had that.
Also,
The glazing putty....is it 2 part or one?
I went to the hardware store and got some and it was like spakling, but made for windows. I'm thinking I got the wrong stuff. It didn't bond very well.
