| The Orlando Helicopter Classic will be held for the third time, here in Orlando on Saturday May 4th and Sunday May 5th at R/C World.
The field will be open on Friday May 3rd for practice, with a pilots meeting at 8AM on Saturday.....if there are a lot of late registrants, we may get started later though.
An engine displacement waiver has been approved for this contest, so the FAI displacement rules will apply to all classes.
Turbine helicopters may be entered in the scale event, as long as the pilot and helicopter have the appropriate AMA turbine documentation (which to be honest, at this particular point in time isn't being offered anyway, but if this should happen to be settled by May, they may obviously be flown).
Entry fees will be $30 for pre-registered pilots and $50 the day of the event. Our website www.torchs.org will be updated to include a registration mechanism and include additional event information.
Steve Hathaway has agreed to CD the event this year. Based on his previous work, he'll do a GREAT job.
Depending on the number of pilots, some contestant judging may be necessary, but I believe we can again seat judges for at least one flightline.
We need a good turnout for this event to ensure its future. So gather your friends and families, and come visit us in May. Its always been a good time.
