Here is a system that looks like it might work. 2.4GHz wireless color mini system that weighs 9grams camera & TX, and also runs 4.8v, can pug into tx channel w/out noise issues.

I know...I know... But it is too much money for a cmos camera. Can get something similiar from e-bay for about $50.00.

wireless cam

Carefull now those last two cams are not as good as 2.4 ghz cam. The video is very grainy on the cheaper cameras and the range is limited. I get lines of interference accross the image on mine when it is near my servos and reciever. But, they are well worth 50-60 bucks (imho) so much fun in other rc's that I have. Drove one electric truck around outside while I watched the video output on my tv in the basement. I did not have the sound version just video only.

nofuelheli,
The link I posted is a 2.4ghz . Irregardless, I agree they are a lot of fun

The one I have is a 1.2ghz. I get lines too when flying with the HB, but I read somewhere that vibration can cause those lines. I still have some more experimenting to do. Since I can hover well...finally, I want to try it outside when it is a calm day

Rc Hummingbird,
The camera is very light, but the 9 volt battery adds a lot to the weight. But I am using the Etec 1200 LiPo battery so the total weight isn't any more than if I was using the birdseed pack. In fact, I suspect it is less.

I know that any camera would work better with a brushless motor since there would be much less interference. But I will try to get mine to work. I am currently using an Acro 280BB motor. I recently installed the Hornet CF FP blades and I love them. The heli is much more stable due to the higher head speed.

Yea I understand the above camera system that I mentioned uses some sort of opto isolator and shares it's power off the 4.8 v Rx (plugs into any unused channel in the RX) The lines could be vibration. But I suspect it is partly the frquency as well.

HB cam

Sorry there I didnt notice that it was the 2.4. I just used a bec connector and made a removable harness for ease of instalation. The current draw and weight only shaved a min or two off of my flight time but the pics I got were well worth it. I also used a balsa boom to mount the camera away from the electronics. And to get some of the helicopter in the picture.

I need to remount mine but I have put my bird on a diet so I can get more flight time. Also, I am waiting to find a way to hook the reciever up to some sort of computer input device. So I can hold those neighborhood reconasance videos....

Yea, I think that we are right there with you.

I am just looking forward to flying mine around the office. We have a 42" Plasma monitor that I am planning to use to fly from the video link.

I should have the above system that "is too expensive" running in the next week or so. I will keep you all posted.

It will take a week or so to get the system in the air. I will post pictures/video when I get it airborne.

You could save some weight by using 2 Kokam 145mah cells to power the camera instead of a 9volt battery.
