So what do you think of my little winter project.
At our club fun fly last summer I was crowned the drag queen as this rappy moed down 11 oncomers with only 2 of the heli's winning one round out of the 3 it took to move on or move over. I was scared to death standing behind this ship spinning 2150 when it launched. I was convinced it was going to explode but it never did. So last September I saw one of these and I knew it was my ticket to the drags.
Well its comming along ( I build at a snails pace). The system is totally slop free (in rappy terms) and it looks like I can get 23 deg of pitch. The OS 50 will pull 11 deg at 90% throttle on 15%. With this top end and the metal pitch tray and other shiney bits (most of which you cannot see as they are the ones that improve the flight chariteristics) I can go to the drag races with confidence that it will not explode on launch. When in drag mode the pitch range is slid up to get +13 deg. I dial the engine up to 2100+- and stuff the 13 deg to it and hang on. I hope this head works as well as the rappy did LOL I hope
I call it the X-Cellent ERGOnomic VelociRaptor SE 8lb. 3 oz.

good crap!have you clocked it? I'd thought i heard that some people had problems with the head staying on with a screaming 0S 50 like that. have you ever bent your spindle in flight?
i'd love to see the speed!

The Canopy is a HHI Ergo 46 fiberglass. Nice size and shape. I have never heard of any rappy head comming apart. I have seen rappy's explode in mid air but they were due to the wood blades or the tail grips departing the sceen. The whole idea behind this was to strengthen the head and I think the E-Cell head is up to anything a 50 can through at it. I have only flown it once last Sept and it was OK but I had a bad vibration that took much of the HP away from the head. I hope to reflight it in April.
