| I have blown out the 1-way bearing in my KSJ start-wand twice in three months. The local bearing supply company wants $32 for the OEM replacement bearing (I can get a complete KSJ knock-off wand with the same bearing for $50).
Anyway..I bought a 10mm ID 1-way from boca for $16 shipped. The OD of this replacement bearing is 14mm. The original 1-way had an OD of 18mm. I have to lathe a 2mm thick "liner insert" so I can use this less expensive bearing. I have no problem up til now. My question is what ID should I make the sleeve so that the bearing is reasonably easy to remove, still functions as a 1-way bearing, and does not slip while starting my motor. IOW, if the OD of my 1-way bearing is exactly 14.00mm the ID of the bore it is being pressed into should be ??.??mm. Note..I will be doing the finish cut on the sleeve ID after the sleeve is pressed into the start adapter.
TIA,
