Main Discussion > Ist Tank of Fuel...WOW!!!

Went to a friends late this afternoon and we both flew our first tanks of fuel through our Raptors.

I think my adrenaline is still pumping. It was AWESOME. I can still smell the nitro (-;

The words can not describe it....it is alot like the sim and NOTHING like the sim at the same time.

I have to give thanks to Nolan aka Vetrider for the great deal on the Raptor 60 and pretty much single handedly setting it up for me (I think I turned a screw somewhere) and Emil for trimming and the test flights.

Looks like I might just have to pay a landing fee at the B'ham funfly.

Thanks to everyone else who has answered my questions (both posted and not) and THANK YOU, MARK for Runryder!

Now I have to go into work )-; and tell everyone I flew a RC Helicopter today (-;

Thanks for the bandwith!

Hate I missed it

Brian,

Nolan taught me how to fly (Well, he is still teaching). He is a great instructor. He also works with my wife. It is amazing how much he has taught her. She will probaly drop the training gear soon.

That was supposed to be my Raptor But that is okay. I will find another.

He's gonna be the next Curtis!!!

Man, let me tell you, Brian looked like he had been flying for months. He was hovering at almost 20 ft. on his very FIRST tank of fuel in a small church parking lot behind my house!!!!!

I also got a chance to burn my first two tanks of fuel and like Brian said, words just can't describe the feeling. My knees are still knocking!! I have a Raptor 50 and it was incredible. We were using the Rotopod 60 training gear which worked awesome. But the training gear didn't get as much use as I thought it would, I think I set my heli down maybe 4 times during an entire tank!!! And Brian did about the same.

I would like give a great, big THANKS to Nolan (vetrider) and also Emil down near Enterprise, AL for spending an entire day with us this past weekend, first setting up the my heli and then putting the first couple of tanks through and making sure all was good. They are the real reason why we were able to have such successful first flights. I am very lucky to have my bird setup so well.

Well, I can't wait till later in the week to burn some more fuel!! Thanks for everybody's support here at RunRyder and all the help from the guys down in Enterprise!!

Not this weekend for me...

James,

I am heading down to New Orleans this weekend but the next weekend I might head down there. I know I will see everybody in Birmingham the weekend of the 23rd for the Birmingham FunFly. Brian said he might head down this weekend but was not sure yet.

Talk to you later,

Brooks

Great

I am glad to know someone else is flying in Montgomery. Maybe the local hobby shop will drop the price of CP 30 from 26/gallon now that there are a few more heli pilots.

I look forward to hearing from you guys.

I'm all blushing and .............stuff.

Brooks and Brian, Glad you two did so well today. I know that knee knockin feelin you guy are experiancing.

Just be careful on the HIGH hovering till your COMMANDING the heli and not following it with inputs.

Master Yoda (I mean Noalan) Speaks

It is easy to get carried away. I know I almost lost control of mine trying to hover to high. I recovered it about 6 inches from the ground.

You probaly set his heli up to well To much confidence!!!

I know the feeling... I just started inverted flight a couple of weeks ago and it's a rush again.

My only advice is to enjoy it and don't let the "technical" aspect of it take control by succumbing to upgrade fever. Fly them babies stock. Don't buy anything else but fuel and parts (only when necessary).

james .
someone changed nolan's name this weekend . we now call him RAY!

"a little search goes along way" and "copy and paste" works just as well.

It is cool.. Now to make a sim complete.. we need to run an engine in the house right next to the monitor producing the smoke and smell of nitro.. then and only then it will be complete

congrats dude!

Praising Nolan and Emil

I see this is the place to praise Nolan and Emil for their generous help with amateurs. I just got my Raptor 50 set up by them and my first flight (with the Rappy) was at Nolan's house with his direction. The training gear came halfway off, but due to the good setup those two did, I didn't crash it. Thanks again guys!!!!!!!
