I have never done anything with model helis, and I was wondering if people could give me suggestions on a heli that is not too expensive, good for a first- time flyer, and is easy to take care of.

Thanks!

It'll cost around $1000-$1500, get an 8ch computer or above radio, maybe the RD6000 if money is really tight, get a Sceadu 30 or a Raptor 30. If you have the $$$ go for a 50 size one. Check out the other threads or visit my website I have a section on "what to get?"

what kind of r/c equipment do you have?

I had stuff laying around and got into this for 325$ when I found a used nexus 30 sans radio but with servos. It is a good ship but it will not do anything more exciting (at least mine won't) than upright flight. It however is very stable and very cheap for parts if your LHS stocks them of relatively cheap through towerhobbies

Now, I am running a Hitec Eclipse 7 and I really like it. It is not quite as nice as some of the 8 ch. futabas but I picked mine up TX only with the spectra module for 220 bucks last summer when they came out. This is also a good option if you already have recievers coming out of your ears like I do... It allows you not to waste money on servos you won't use and useless 600-1000mah battery packs... speaking of packs, some of hte best prices I've found is at www.radicalrc.com

I've been keeping an excel spreadsheet of all the items I've bought and their cost, just out of curiosity and to track expenses/investments. (this will probably only depress me later though) If you'd like a copy I can send it to you, it'll give you an idea what all the odds and ends will end up costing by the time you have everything you need.

What?

Hi
A good choice would be a Hawk IV or SE 30 I have both with many
trouble free flights. One thing to consider is the cost of parts.
The Hawk also has a very well written set of instructions.
