e-Electric Motors & Controllers > Schulze Future 45Ho vs 45He controller

Hello guys....I have decided to go ahead and buy the Mikado Logo 10 electric heli. The dealer has everything available except for the Speed controller (I need the Schulze Future 45Ho w/o the BEC)...they have the 45He version with the BEC and says it can be utilized exactly the same as the 45Ho if you don't "plug in the BEC circuit". I honestly don't know.....and according to a friend you don't have the "opti-couple" circuitry which, as I understand it, is a type of noise insulator???? What do you guys think? Should I go for it or wait for the Ho to come in? This is my first "real" electric heli so any input input is very appreciated. Thanks a bunch guys.

I would wait, or possibly go with the a Kontronik controller.

What brushless motor are you getting? I have about 65 flights on my Logo10 (Kontronik FUN 600-15, SMILE 40-6-18) and love the heli.

Hi Brad,

I'm gonna go with the Kontronic Fun 600-18.........Mikado recommends the Shulze Future 45Ho controller to go with it and it seems that is the package that everyone seems to be offering. Apparently getting the motor set is a bit of a challenge. Cyberheli has the 45He (with BEC) and said I could use that if I don't plug in the BEC circuit, but I don't think it has the same programming as the 45 Ho. Being new to electrics I though I would get some opinions here.

I glad to hear that you like the Logo10...I can't wait to get on going myself. What servos and motor set are you running in yours? How bout your run time? Are you using a standard size servo on the tail and what about the RX?

Thanks,
Learpilot

Learpilot:

You can go with either the Shulze 45Ho or a Kontronik Beat 35-8-30. Did yoy try RC-Direct in San Diego, I think they just got a shipment in?

THe 45He as you know has a BEC and is rated up to 10 cells. I don't know what happens if you use more than 10 cells but not the BEC. You will want at least 12 cells with the FUN 600-18. With the FUN 600-15 on 12 cell CP2400SCR Sanyo packs I am getting around 8 to 9 min in hovering to FF flight.

My configuration:

Logo 10
autorotation hub
tail boom support
Kontronik FUN 600-15
Kontronik SMILE 40-6-18
Futaba GY-240
Futaba 148 FM RX
(3) Hitec 225 servos
(1) Hitec 81MG (tail)
Funkey 530 fiberglass blades
KSJ tail blades and paddles
Quick 3D carbon fiber fin and stab

You will love the Logo10 and the convenience of electric. I usually fly three flights before work and three or four when I gey home in the street in front of the house. No noise, so no complaints from the neighbors.

Hey Learpilot,

Where are you getting your logo from? I'm getting mine from Tony at Eflightpacks.com. I'm going with the 600-15 with the Smile 40-6-18. I see you're from Piscataway. . .been looking for a hobby shop that carried heli's besides GS Hobbies on Rt. 35. Let me know which shops you go to cause I'd like to visit them. Thanks.

I spoke with RC Direct today and they won't know until tomorrow what they got and what is available. Thanks again for the replies and I am gonna wait for the 45 Ho and do it right. Just gotta make up my mind on the servos. Thanks again Brad.

The servo choice for the Logo 10 is very limited. With the Logo 10 frame you are very limited in height (without enlarging the servo opening in the frame), width (and still keep the links to the swash vertical, and depth (wothout hitting the mast). In metric the largest servo dimensions that will fit are:

30x12x30 (L,W,H)

The largest servo that fits without any problems is the Hitec 81's. Many flyers want more than 32oz torque and go with Hitec 85's. Both the 81's and 85's had less torque than I wanted so I went with Hitec 225's. I also wanted the four point mount on the 225's as it would better resist any twisting in the mount.

With the 225's you have to enlarge the servo opening and stand off the servos or they will hit the mast. If you are precise in the mods you will have a great system with cyclic/pitch power to spare.

There are some JR mini digitals that fit, but at $80 each I passed.

Also there I a ton of good Logo information in the Heli discussion area of ezone. Just do a search on Logo10.

FYI

An optocoupler is used to electronically isolate two different circuits but still allow them to communicate. One side of an optocoupler is an LED (light emitting diode) and the other is either a photo diode or photo transistor. The voltage source and grounds of both circuits can then be completely isolated from one another.

ESCs use them to keep the noise created by the phase generators from traveling into the communication circuitry and back up the servo wire into the receiver.

Schulze UNI

Hi,
45He vs. 45Ho is not a good choice - they are both obsolete at the moment. Take a Shulze UNI series and you will get an option to have 12-cells with BEC or 18 without it - it has quite unique two cable option, so you can with LOGO 10 a later use the same ESC with LOGO 16 )

I have 45He three years and personally check UNI last season ;o)

Cheers
