Can someone recommend an inexpensive set of glass or carbon blades that work good with Raptror 30? Are the FK Carbon Fiber Reinforced Main Blade, 550MM X 12 mm X 4mm that Helihut sells any good?

$28 FRP Blades

I have a few sets of these blades. They look and fly great. And they are only $28!!! I posted the info several months ago on this web site, but here is a repeat of that post.

The company that makes them is "The World Models". The USA distributor and retailer is Airborne Modles. Here is a link to their web page. They also have full page ads in RCM magazine.

http://www.airborne-models.com/

Once you get there, look down at the lower left corner and you will see "Parts and Accessories". Click on Accessories. Go to the bottom and click on page 2. Once on page 2, scroll down to the bottom and you will see the following two items:

FRP main rotor blade PR6200550 Fiberglass 550 mm semi-symmetrical. Clockwise rotation. 4 Oz. pre-balanced. Bolt hole 4 mm, root 12.5 mm.

FRP main rotor blade PR6200551 Fiberglass 550 mm symmetrical

If you then go to page 3, you will see the 660's and 680 blades.

Please note the web site says the root is 12.5mm, in reality, they are exactly 12mm and fit the Raptor perfectly. Yes, they include spacers and bushings for 3mm and 4mm bolt holes.

I hope this helps. -Steve

I've heard great things about this site.. The Blade Runner

Anyway, they show you the price for their blades in US Dollars $49 for 550 carbon blades.. $42 for glass blades..

I just buy the CMT clones from Heliproz.. they work nice for me, and are about the same price and in the states.. so shipping is quicker

arcpilot did you have to adjust your pitch curve to get the blades to hover? Mine needed me to increase the hovering pitch of my r30 to 7 degree, whereas the wooden blades only needed 5.5. The climbing is still quite fast, how width was your 550mm blades? Mine is only around 47mm.

I have been using SAB 0300 blades for my Raptor 30. I bought them with www.cyberheli.com. These blades are much better then the
stock wooden blades.

Blade Change

Yes, I had to increase the pitch when I switched to the $28 fiberglass 550mm blades.

My Raptor had been flying for 6 months with the stock wood blades. All the pitch curves and throttle curves had been fine tunned. Then, I put on the $28 FRP blades and I found there was no longer enough pitch on the positive side (but too much on the negative side). I just increased the pitch of the both blades (in equal amounts) until the head speeds were back to normal (where they use to be with the wood blades). From that point on, everything was back to normal.

blades

I fly the FK 600mm blades on my Rap50 and they are fine....when i changed from the woodies to the FK blades, the head speed went out the roof....had to tone that down but after a little tweaking....they pretty good....
