Just got hooked up with a Schulze 8-936g YAHOO!!! and I'm now looking for a US supplier for "Maas" 5-15 volt / Power Supplies. Thought I saw one posted a while back can't remember where (memory 2nd thing to go!)

My search came up empty handed!

I'd like to buy a 110v (USA) version of the SPS-9400 that the Schulze guy's use . . .I believe they run 230v version in Europe.

Please Advise,

I ended up with the 636 charger and using a pyramid 50 amp supply... no problem covering the unit and the pyramid goes for about 160 or so...

If you want a high quality supply check out the Astron power supplies. These are great supplies, especially for the cost.

Ouch that 57A continuous/70A ICS supply weighs 48 pounds. I'd get the one with the meters too.

I've owned several Astrons over the years. Search the newsgroups. See what the hams are using. Their equipment is much more sensitive and expensive than even an isl8-936.

Swee charger! Let us know how it works.

P.S. Here's some pricing from a popular amateur radio supply store:

In the US this power supply is under the BK Precision name.

Maas in the US is BK Precision

Joe, the BK or the Astron? No doubt, you will pay more for a preminum power supply. Things like noise, filtering, load regulation, crowbar protection, etc. all add to the cost. Linear supplies aren't that complicated. Switchers are much more complicated to design and build and are priced accordingly.

The 40A Pyramid is plenty of power supplyand as Joe said, is quite reasonable in price... These chargers aren't for the space program... Just a good reliable power source is all that is necessary... Your batteries arn't going to be any better if you use a $300 power supply...

If you insist on spending the extra money and it makes you feel better, go for it... At the end of the day, it's just 13v...

I was told that the Pyramid also weighs more than the BK, but that is not an issue since once it was on the bench, it does not move. No big deal.

When I needed to upgrade my power supply after getting an Orbit
Pro I got a Daiwa SS-330W power supply. Five to fifteen volts and
30 amps continuous. It's small and light weight (5 pounds) with a
very quiet fan. When I'm charging 32 cell packs with the Orbit I
position the fan to blow on the Orbit heat sink. At the time it was
about $150 US, but the dollar has taken a beating since then. I
would think you could still find them under $200.

Just another possibility.

Thanks for the tip, Pat & Bob at Some Dudes Hobby Shop here in SLC also sell Ham Radio Gear and they carry the Daiwa 30A version.
I stopped by yesterday to take a look . . .very nice, compact and lightweight. Around $160 bucks.
I also have a call into the Schulze guy in California, I believe he is using a Ham Radio Power Supply too.

I'm still out "Shopping" specs / price but I appreciate everyone's input thanks.

Actually, all of the power supplies mentioned are for the ham industry in reality, I believe... I know the Pyramid is, as well as the ones you guys have stated...

You can tell it's a switcher by the weight.

I'm using an Astron SS-30M, 25A continuous, 30A ICS. It's adjustable from 12 to 14 or 15v and has separate voltage and amp meters. It's small and light and the fan is temperature controlled which is great. I paid $140 for it. When using my Alpha 4 or Sirius Charge Pro the fan doesn't even go on. I use a Rigrunner to distribute the ps output to multiple chargers.

I was looking to get one from Europe a while back when the exchange rate was good. Back then they were around $550. I'm sure they're much more expensive now that the value of the dollar has been falling....
