| On the 10th flight of my Voyager 50, I started to get a clicking noise from the tail drive pinion assembly. As you spin the rotor head by hand, the double bearing assembly goes, click, click, click, click. But when you take belt tension off of the tail drive pinion, the clicking noise goes away.
After removing the assembly from the helicopter, there is a notchy feeling to the lower bearing of the assembly. Could this have been caused by the belt being to tight? I had it adjusted where you could push the belt half of the distance between the two belts at the front pulley.
After talking to the guy at Boca Bearings to get a replacement, he thought it failed because of an alignment issue.
Anybody else had a failure in these bearings? |
