e-Electric Batteries & Chargers > Need some advice...

After I convinced a friend that he wanted an Alpha 4, he was unable to get an order in during the recent "window". He and another member of my club placed their orders at the appointed time on the appointed day, but received no acknowledgement.

So now, they're wearing me out about what to get. Frankly, I don't have a clue. I haven't been keeping up with charger technology. I did play with John Garst's Chameleon last week-end; it is a full-function device. But it is limited by one full-function and one limited function port. Okay for field use, but a bit restricted for keeping models, transmitter, starter, etc., topped up at home. So help me out, guys. Here are some parameters...

1. These guys are die-hard ni-cad users. There will be no need for lithium or li-poly charging capability.

2. Multiple ports (more than 2).

3. Flexibile programmability; IOW, not limited to four or eight cell packs.

4. Peak/slope detection; they do NOT want anything that uses time as an indicator of a pack's charge/discharge state.

Thanks in advance. I eagerly await your recommendations, so I can get these guys off my back...

over on rcu on the battery forum, there
is this item:

I beleive I have found the Litco buster. If anyone would like to know more, please write to me privately. I will send you a PDF file in english which is the operating instructions.

aerografixs@hotmail.com

I am presently negociating with the manufacturer to import these from Germany

It has 5 independent outputs with 2 amps

It does eveything that the Litco does and more.

This is not bogus info but a charger that does exist and could be here in North America shortly with no waiting lists.

-------------------------------

So, it might be worth looking at. As you
well know, there is a distinct lack of
multi-port units on the market that offer
full functionality and power on all ports.

Oh, and your pals might want to check
out the CR5000 (?) from Futaba which
is going to be about $500+ but it
looks tres cool.

The key words there are "could be here in North America shortly"... plus, I'm suspicious of Hotmail addresses.

Thanks for the heads-up, guy. I heard about that Futaba charger over the week-end; along with some other VERY interesting news.

Looks like JR is about to take it in the shorts again....

He isn't, by any chance, the guy who was always bashing the A4 on UseNet? You remember; the one who had these big plans about producing a "Litco killer", but turned out to be all mouth?

Moot point; a fellow forumite had an extra A4 gathering dust, and we just struck a deal.

Thanks again, Larry. That's one off my back. The other guy will just have to suck it up.

I don't "hate" anyone on Hotmail. But it is a haven for scoundrels and trolls. Unfortunately, the good folks there get tarred with that brush...

it's just unfortunate that hotmail has
become such a haven for spammers
and others.

Like most things, the good stuff gets
ruined by the few morons.

No I'm not the one for sure. I have and use a Litco Alpha 4. But I needed a 5 output unit and I have found it with the Miniron Mobil from Germany.

I beleive you are refering to Roger Neal who was working to build one and never materialized

I don't make chargers.
I make Fiber Optic servo extensions though
