I have two helicopters, both with large packs (2000 and 3000 Nimh). I also have an 8uhps, and a park flyer. I need to find a DC charger to use at the field, that will fast charge 4-10 cells. I primarily want to top off my reciever packs by fastcharge. I would also like to charge more than one battery pack at a time if possible. I would like peak detection, and NiMH compatibility. AC/DC is a plus. Some sort of cycler or discharging capacity would also be very useful. Are there any chargers that also have a loaded meter function? I have used ACE's loaded meter and like it. Any suggestions as to what to buy would be most helpful. I have used one of the Hobbico fast chargers, and it works ok, but I am paranoid about baking packs, and don't want to have to worry when I am flying about a pack that is still baking. Thanks.

Thanks, John Cadwell

The 250S will only do one pack correct?

Super Turbo and Super Nova

If you are using nimh packs, then get the Super Turbo. The Super Nova does not properly peak nimh batteries, the Super Turbo does. Overall, the Super Turbo is a better unit and less expensive. They are hard to find as the demand is quite high.

I had one. There were several times it didn't NiMH peak correctly.

I sold it and got the Microlader V6 instead (and also got rid of the
NiMHs).

Super Nova

I was a dealer for FMA. I had a local customer that had a 4 cell 2700 nimh pack that wouldn't take a full charge. I did some testing on a known good nimh pack on my Super Turbo, Super Nova, and Alpha 4.

The Super Turbo peaked the nimh to 95% of rated capacity, while the Super Nova was about 80%. This was consistant amoung several Super Nova's.

I contacted Fred Marks about it and he of course denied it. It was also confirmed by some other people that I asked to test it.

The Super Turbo has a user adjustable millivolt cut off for nicds and nimh, but the factory settings are correct for Sanyo nicds and nimh batteries.

For nicads, both units work flawlessly. For nimh batteries, get the Super Turbo.

Sirius Limited edition will do 2 RX packs at one. Very fast charger and its a no brainer. I dont know if its the best, but it sure does work good.

I charge NiCad and NiMh packs, RX, TX, flight packs etc. It seems to work ok, the packs never get really warm. The charger has got the V2.0 software if that makes any difference. Not sure what the V1 was. Mine came with a note saying it was Version 2 blah blah blah. It comes up V2.0 when first plugged in.

I like the idea that the sirius can do the TX and RX at the same time. With the turbo I would have to do one at a time. Has anybody used the Sirius Pro (the TX and RX charger, not the twin RX) charger on larger capacity Nimh cells? The website reccomends the larger sized charger, but it will not charge the TX.

You can get a jacked up output version of the
SiriusPro by getting a Pro and sending it
back to the factory w/ $25 or so. They
turn it into a Pro+ that doubles all the capacities
and adds a fan. That is 2000mA on the RX
side as I recall but all you'd need to do is unplug
and replug the pack to start another cycle.

Can you still use the non jacked up charger like it is? I have two helis, so waiting for one to charge isn't too big of a deal for me. But if the unjackedup charger won't handle the big Nimh properly...

Hey Evan Chapkis!

How did the Alpha 4 do with the Nimh's?

The Alpha 4 can only slow charge nimh packs, it cannot peak charge them.

Version 2.0 software?

Rotary Flyer,

The charger you bought that has version 2.0 software, does it say "SuperNova" on the bezel? Also, does this charger say "RCLine", "Pro Peak", or something different on the front bezel?

I tried e-mailing you the other day, but got no response. Here's my e-mail address: MyStar@worldnet.att.net

Thanks,

Don

I had always used the Ace Multi Charger with great success. It will charge anything that has rechargable batteries.
