You don't need different gears to use the long boom as far as I know. Just the belt, boom, longer pushrod for the t/r and larger blades.

yes you Do need the gears because the longer belt uses different teeth

JRP988036 Long Boom Conversion

I just upgraded to longer boom on my Ergo. The best place to get the Loog boom conversion is gr8lakesrc.com I got mine there for $94.

you get the boom, belt ,2 gears, t/r pushrod, 600mm wood blades, longer boom supporter, and an Ergo 46 manual(still trying to figure out why they included the Ergo manual since it has absolutely nothing new in it) the part numbers separately for most these parts are unknown to me
I only know the longer belt and the longer boom part numbers

Long boom gears

The gears are pn. 960190 ( front) & 960187 (rear), same as the Ergo 60 (or Vigor I think).

What colour is the belt in your conversion Lwnemesis ?

I purchased my parts for the long boom conversion from another RR member who decided he didn't want to do the conversion on his Ergo 30 when he discovered he had to cut a piece off the OS 50 crankshaft to make it fit. The long belt I recieved is the same colour as the original Ergo belt (orange) and has the same pitch so no need to change the 2 pulleys. The part tag says it's from Century Helicopter Products part #CNQST19A Tail Drive Belt - Raptor. It seems that the Raptor 60 belt works for the Ergo long boom conversion and uses the same pitch. I measured the pitch
on my original Ergo 30 belt and it's the same as the Raptor 60 belt I recieved. The belt itself has markings on it as such- BANDO 630XL EK .

Ergo long boom kit

Well, I'm not Lwnemesis but I do have an original JR long boom kit.
It had a black belt with fine pitch, as does the Ergo 60 and Vigor. You are correct in that a Raptor 30 belt (The Rap 60 is tube drive) is the same length as the long boom JR belt and the same coarse pitch as the short boom pulleys. The width is different, though. The JR belt is 5 mm wide while the stock Raptor 30 belt is 6.3 mm and won't seat in the pulleys without riding the walls. Perhaps your Century aftermarket belt is narrower?

Anyway, I hope this helps sort all this out

You have a good point Brian that I didn't think about so I checked the width with the caliper. The Century belt is 5mm wide.

IMO- JR should've included a rape kit with the ergo 46 3D when you purchased it. It was labelled as a 3D kit but was supplied with blades and boom that were too short for even the OS46 and then you need to purchase the upgrade high cyclic hub to get the required pitch range for 3D and then you need to purchase some bearings to replace the bushings in the clutch start area, then the servo mixing assy has bushings in that wear out in a relatively short time. A friend has one and I've flown it and it does fly great, but the parts required to qualify it as "ergo 46 3D" are too many and should've been included in the kit from the beginning.

What DNHP parts did you get? I ordered some DNHP parts myself last week to put on my Ergo 30 CCPM like the boom grip and all the parts to build the tail pitch control slider assy..
Their parts are better priced than the JR upgrades.

Vince
Enough people must have complained to JR about the bushing in the clutch / starter area because the Ergo 30 & 46 CCPM come with all bearings in that area, plus I believe they added a few more bearings in other areas from what I heard. You are right though when you say they should have put the high cyclic hub along with the other necessary parts in the 3D kit. You can surely bet that if they did the kit would be much more expensive.

I also got the boom holder, its nice But the boom had to be shoved in there prety hard so I broke the plastic tailcase trying to get the boom to go farther in the boom holder. Never liked that plastic case anyway so I got the dnhp tailcase excelent upgrade. If you want good and cheap upgrade parts I suggest that you visit the DNHP website then go to gr8lakesrc.com and order what you want The reason i say goto the DNHP wesite instead of gr8lakes is because they will tell you if the part will work with the Ergo

Start looking for DNHP parts for your Ergo here

http://www.dnhpm.com/Partslist/Parts-L/Photo-List-1.htm

yeah the whole bushings in the clutch thing is getting on my nerves too
I just replaced the bushing under the hex starter to find out thast there is another bushing in the clutch bell. Now i have to replace that too.
