Is anyone running the stock motor with success. I am not getting any power out of it with a 7 cell 600 mah Nimh. I know Im not suppose to expect any power, but when I say no power, I mean it won't lift off. I have basically full esc throttle at mid stick and up and the head will spin up to a high rpm but when I start adding more and more collective it starts to die and then spin the tail because its underpowered. Im running a 9 tooth pinion on the stock motor. Anyone have success with this.

Hi,
I am running the stock 300 motor on a CP hornet, I am using a 8cell 700mAh Powerex battery pack though. I need about 85-90% esc power for normal flight. I am using a 10t pinion I think from memory.
I recently converted a set of flat bottom FP blades to use on the CP head and they give slightly longer flight times (about an extra minute). I usually manage about a 7.5 min flight on a freshly charged pack.

Heli34,
You are obviously underpowered. You should try a 12-13T pinion with a 7 cell setup. You do not have enough head speed to get thrust equal to the weight of the heli at normal pitch, and at higher pitches, your tail does not have enough speed to counter the main blades torque...
A 12 or 13T pinion comes with the CP kit.
I fly stock speed 300 with 10T and 3xEtec Lipo 1200. I lift at abouth 40-50% ESC (flat bottoms) and will hover for well over 15 minutes to a fresh charge. The total airborne weight is 294 grams.
