I have read a lot of good thing about the Falcon 50SE. Its looks like this heli does not have problems with brake Clutch shoes like the Raptor and no woof and poof like the Sceadu.

So what about parts Crash Survival on the Falcon 50???

What are the parts and spend $$$ that you have to put on this machine to get it back to fly agin...............I already know the usuall parts like boom, blades, main mast, etc, etc....................BUT what about the main gears and rear gears??? Tube Drive??? Plastic frame??? Lower metal Frame??? Self taping screw on Frame Cracks??? Canopy??? Landing skids???

THX,

Isaac

woof and poof

I don't know any thing about the Sceadu,,, but the Raptor does the woof and poof too, my Raptor woofed on it's third flight, it threw a main blade and went poof,,, you all can laugh because it was funny, funny to see those parts fly in all directions. But I think Ace is going to replace it !!

crash damage

I've put my Falcon in about 6 times since I bought it roughly 8-9 months ago.

6/6 times it was a crash kit, main gear and tail gears ($60+$10+$5). 3/6 times the tail drive tube broke ($12). 1/6 time the lower frames bent ($30). 1/6 time the tail ctl shaft broke - universal shaft from Rick's ($?).

All bearings are still good. All screws/bolts are still good. Plastic upper frame, servo frames are still good. Landing gear are still good. Canopy is still good (but was recently replaced cause it was starting to look a bit rough).

I hope this helps.

** Same as other similar helis **

Hi,

A typical crash will destroy the same parts on this heli as with other plastic fantastic, and non-plastic helis: mainshaft, flybar, spindle, boom, whatever tail drive is used, mainblades.

The main gear material will strip if you stop the tail rotor fast while other things are still spinning. Note that the wire drive (i.e. not the tube) has the advantage here - it is dirt cheap to replace, and will also give if you dump the heli. This is a design feature, rather than the flaw that many people make it out to be. It is not surprising, though, to find that the tail can't be made to feel quite as tight w. the wire drive when compared to the tube - BUT, the wire is completely adequate for FFF, most non-tail intensive 3D (e.g. inverted, flips and flops, but not hard stopping piros), and even moderate speed sideways and backward flying that serves as the first step to these maneuvers done FAST.

In the end, Century prices are comparable (if not cheaper) than most other plastic heli parts. These parts are no more/less likely to fail in a crash either. If you like the heli, go for it! You won't be let down by the cost of repairs - especially when you consider what you get for what you paid.

Cheers,

cost of replacement and availability

The Century Falcon has parts galore and are available at most hobby shops, if you find that they don't, have them get ahold of Century. I personally love my heli and i have alot of fun w/o a lot of money!!
