Anyone could point me to a site that will describe what it means by the battery type? Meaning AU cells, SCR SCK etc etc. What are thier ups and downs etc etc.

Really in the dark and really need some pointers.

Let's see now

SCR is Sub C Fast Charge
SCK is Sub C Heat Resistant
AU is A size cell, I think the U is for foam positive electrode.

In R/C the R is used the most in the NICAD series.

NIMH series are HRSC 2600 Sub C, HR 4/5 AUP 1700, HR 4/5 FAUP 1950. All of these are Sanyo cells.

I hope this helps some.
