I have a stock hornet that I want to go upgrade the motor on. What are some of the best choices. I still run NiMi batteries. I have a Phionex10 ESC laying around. should I go brushless or just a good brushed motor for now. Only mild 3d stuff right now but... Thanks

I vote for the Razor Heli. It's very light and I actually had to tone it down some it was so powerful.

Another vote for the Razor Microheli V2. Lighter than the hacker and capable of handling as much power.

Do yourself and if you don't have the latest Phoenix 10, send it in to Castle Creations for upgraded software. May make a world of difference depending on what software you have.

Based on our experience the brushless motors, based on demand, out there, in order, and based on performance/price are:

Razor V2
Hacker B20-22S
MS Composit
Astro 10

The Razor V2 is just flat hard to get when you want one. The Hacker, you may have to shop around for. Even for mild 3D, the Razor V2 is worth waiting for. The others are available most all the time.

Castle Creations has just recently released a Micro version of the Phoenix 10, and has all the early release problems fixed the last we heard. Its the most reccommended brushless ESC for Micro Helis now a days..
