FYI

If anybody is interested, I was in the neighborhood today so I stopped by the field. The corn is down and the grass is not short, but under control. I noticed a few vehicle tracks thru the runway. I turned the key on the mower, but the battery is down.

The dust will have to be blown off the mower too. And it needs fuel and a jump. But if you want to meet me there, I'm in.

Darryl and I tried to get the mower started today with no luck. It seems to need a starter. We put 12 volts directly to the starter and it just barely turned over.

The grass was deep, but thanks to our landlord the field has not turned into a hayfield, and Darryl flew his Ultimate (check out film on youtube) and I flew my Profile Pitts. A little bit breezy, and although Darryls plane seems to like to drop pieces of itself, no crashes and all was good.

hey question?

hey al or darryl or even bob, how much expo do you use on your planes. do you use more on the by plane then the extra? then also how much throw should i have on the ailerons, rudder, elev. etc.?

I can do it,(crash). then again mybe not.

Well on low rates I use 30% on ail&ele 60% on rudder. High rates 60% ail&ele 70% on rudder. For your planes I would start with 25% ail&elv 50% on rudder and adjust from there. You will find in 3D rates you will really need to soften up the controls around center At first I did not like EXPO but now it really works for me. Use factory throw rates to start with then go from there. I'm working this weekend but maybe next weekend we can get together and do some flying.... I'll keep my eye on the weather and post early enough so everyone can see if they can attend. I'm thinking a Saturday would be a better day for me.. Hopefully Mike and Bob will read this thread, maybe we can get them out as well. I really miss seeing everyone it just seems that over the last year or so we got scattered. Darryl that really is a beautiful airplane (rat) I can't wait to see it!!!!
