| I had a maiden myself yesterday, up at the New Paltz HS. I took my Polks DC 3 up for a spin. It flew pretty good on the stock motors with 9.6 volts and 9 inch props. It was twitchy tho, and very much wanted to climb. I had to use 16 ounces of battery pack to balance this tail heavy model. I don't know where Polks came up with their all up weight under 5 pounds. Mine got to about 6.5. With full nose down trim I only had to hold moderate forward stick to keep it flying level. She dropped a wing about 8 feet off the ground and I thought it was all over, but I managed to get it more or less level and the damage was limited to one broken landing gear.
Spent a few hours with Darryl and Ali up at the Walden field and had a couple of flights with the Profile Pitts. Ali was doing his usual tear up the skies heli flying, and Darryl's new Taylorcraft is gorgeous!
We need to get a line of guys to walk the runway to pick up sticks and look things over. I thought the runway looked pretty good for coming out of the winter. I'm sure there are a few new ruts and bumps, but all in all, not bad. Before you know it, we will need the mower. I will check it out one of these days when it gets a little warmer, but if anyone else wants to get to it before I do, I won't be offended.
