I couldn't resist the sunshine and nice temps today, so I pulled on my boots and headed for the field. The snow was pretty nice. There were large smooth areas even tho someone had driven on the runway. Anyway, "Lily's plane" fired up quickly and flew well. It WAS a little bit breezy, and the wind was very changeable, blowing down the runway then reversing itself, then blowing from behind me. It felt like it could go from zero MPH to gusts over 20, and the plane was showing it up in the air. After a nice flight, I landed smoothly and cut the motor, packed it in and headed home. Bring on the spring!

field repair.

we all talked about this last year and something needs to be done with the runway, last year we talked about 2 loads of top soil, i can bring my ATV and i had a york rake available i just would need to look into that again. the time to do this is very soon. the dirt needs to be put down, leveled and seeded. we have been going through a good rainy season so as soon as it gets warm the grass would grow fast. any thoughts on this. now is the time to plan it and talk to ed.

Runway maintenance

Yes, the runway has its share of bumps, hills and ruts, and it costs us some wheels and worse sometimes. I'd be happy to do my share. I can bust the "wheel eating hill" with my tiller, and a guy following me with a rake to smooth it out and let it get green would do the trick for that. But Steve is right. The grass will grow FAST! And the lawn mower will need some attention paid to it this year. We've been lucky so far. This weekend is out. Next weekend is a possiblity, and with daylight savings time starting there'll be daylight till 7 starting tomorrow if anyone wants to do something in the evening. Let me know.

Anybody interested in traveling to some giant scale fly ins in North Carolina last weekend of this month and/or mid April? Anybody going to the Nall? That's in Mid May.

Haven't met any of you nor been club accepted, maybe this would be a good time for me to stop by and pitch in?

At the field today!

I was at the field for a couple of flights this afternoon. Low winds, mild temp and actually the sun was out. It felt great to get in a couple flights.

The general condition of the field is actually pretty good after the winter.

Bob how r u? I would suggest though some new tables. Those old tables are accident waiting to happen. That is my opinion however.

Just do it.

Ali, things are good, but just very busy, as we all are. Mike (manzer)is our club treasurer and has the funds in our account for tables and site upgrades. He posted the same suggestion a couple of weeks ago as well as other club members. I guess when the weather is more predictable, we should purchase the tables!

Well after a long period of debating the should I or should'nt I, I have decided to build the ME109G and have made the purchase. I should expect to see the fuse and wing kit in about 6 weeks which is kewl because this gives me time to find a lot of other things I will need to complete this monster warbird. Here are some pictures of what it will look like.
