Aeromaster build

Well, it's going. I am basically up to the point in the manual that says "final assembly." Yeah like anything is "final" in this hobby! LOL! Anyway, it is sitting on 2 tables in my living room/kitchen (it's too big for one table!) and I have checked out the controls (some tweaking needed, but everything functional) and will get to fitting the upper wing which involves the struts, cabanes and aileron links. After that, it's time to prop up and see if this monster flies! I mounted the smoke pump on the motor and found a home for a small oil tank in the fuse, tho I have not drilled the back of the motor for the pressure tap to run the pump, nor have I plumbed the lines since I am still not sure if this SuperTiger 2500 is going to stay on the nose. For the same reason, I am not installing the cowl yet.

Well, no flying this weekend. Yesterday would have been the day to do it, flying off and IN the snow! LOL! Today is hurricane day. We ought to get kites so on days like this we can fly anyway. LMAO!

24 dollar a gallon 30% Wildcat Curtis Youngblood formulation no one interested? I don't use the stuff, but I thought that sounded reasonable. No? OK, stay warm.

Thanks for the heads up Rick, the price on the Wildcat is about normal but a little higher than I usually pay for it. Thanks anyway..

You're welcome. I don't even remember who used to get me fuel. Think it might have been Swattley. I'd get it for 15 a gallon by the case. I bought a gallon for 18 dollars the other day. I need some 5 or 10% with no more then 15% castor. Less, even 12%, is better, for the SuperTiger.

Geez! It's a BLIZZARD out right now!

Basically ready to maiden!

Well, I had the Aeromaster together today. Remember that receiver I sent to hobby services that they "fixed" for 50 dollars? Well, it ain't fixed. I swapped it out and all the twitching went away. The control surfaces are adjusted and she is installed as model # 11 on the Polk's. Besides plugging in the fuel lines, all I need to do is balance her. Can't do it myself tho, it's just too damn big to do alone. No rush tho with the winter being here and all that stuff.

Can you say "Joe Nall"? LOL

Sounds great Rick !! I highly suggest you fly it here first before you go to the Nall. Actually .. let me know when and I will help you with it if you want. I always like to watch first time take offs !!
PS> The Taylorcraft is well on it's way to being flight ready. What a nice airplane. Switching most everything to gasoline now, only one glow plane left.

Scorf:
I had a ACE 1/4 scale taylorcraft (clipped wing) at one time and it was the best RC aircraft I've ever owned BAR-NONE. I still miss that airplane!! I look for a1/3 scale version all the time. It was a aerobatic fool. I think it is the best high wing airplane EVER made. I can't wait to see it fly... Best of luck with it.

Thanks, Darryl. I'll certainly keep you in the loop. I just need to decide if I want to advertise for Great Planes (apply the decals) or not, get the CG right and hook up the fuel lines before it is ready to maiden. And FYI, I WASN'T planning on taking it to the Nall to maiden, fool! LOL! Maybe we can have a maiden day with your Tcraft and my Aeromaster 1st weekend with decent weather.

AL, I'm always browsing ebay. If I see a big Tcraft for sale, would you like me to let you know?

The one I am building is a discontinued ARF from Hanger9, it's the 1/4 Scale clipped wing Taylorcraft.

Anybody got a line on low nitro/ low oil fuel? The big supertigre doesn't like oil above 15%. 10 or 12% is better. And the nitro can be anything under 15. Best would be 5 or 10.
