| World Engines "Garbo"My first heli was a Garbo made by World Engines. I bought it in the early eighties. It had a fixed pitch rotor, no gyro. Don't think I even knew what a gyro was! It was powered by an os 40 fsr...Started it with a rubber belt that stayed around the engine pully/fan. The heli was not very well designed. It used a "Flat" belt for the tail rotor. No drive teeth. The belt would slip before you could run a tank out.
Radio was a 5 channel Futaba. Pretty elaborate for back then. After much, much practice, I was able to hover it for about 20 seconds before loosing control. That was about as long as I could keep it in the air. After about a year of hover/playing, I tried FFF and that was the demise of the heli! From what I can remember, it was totally uncontrollable!
Heli's and flying planks have been in my blood ever since. Just recently I got back into heli's. Now I have 7 of them! And I have to say, their much easier to fly than way back then!
